This morning the water started tasting bad...sort of plasticky and funky. I put a new filter in yesterday so I presume the filter is faulty or there is gunk trapped in the machine somewhere. I think Brita should refund every person who has spent money, not only in the original purchase price but the power usage and the expensive cartridges! The fact that they do not make these anymore speaks volumes! Mine's going to recycling and I'm going back to bottled water until I can find a water cooling system that works.

The best selling points about Brita Aqua Fountain Water Filter Chiller was 'its looks' and worktop convenience. After six months use the machine began to emit a very tractor-type noise. The filtering system began to fail as 'floaties' began to appear in top reservoir of fountain - an unhygienic factor compounded by a build-up of 'gunk' in spout of water faucet - hence as I was of the opinion I may have used a batch of 'faulty' filters I changed (quite unnecessarily)the filter before the Memory table had dropped to one bar. Eventually, as the constant changing of filters had no impact upon the 'gunge' like substance I stopped using the machine - and reverted to using shop-purchased bottle water. I would have complained to Britva about the problematic machine but unfortunately the guarantee was no longer applicable. In hindsight, I should have checked the internet for the history of the Aqua Fountain. If I had known there was problems with the machine then I would not have purchased the fountain. I will continue to use bottle water. Not including the cost of purchasing a machine not 'fit for purpose' I expended quite a substantial sum of money on replacement cartridges. Needless-to-say, in my opinion, the logo of Brita has been tarnished and in future I intend to avoid the purchase of any item with the Brita brand mark.

I have never had a product that is so pointless. It is good to see that it has an average rating of 1 star on here. Dont buy it. I have had 3 of them in 4 years. Each time they break after the year so no manufacturers warranty, no retailer warranty and cartridges in the bin. By my reckoning £100 for the machine + electricity = 1 bottle of water @ 20p * 500 bottles. Hence I would have to use 10 bottles a week to make this break even, not factoring in electricity, new cartridges and time to buy a new one all the time. Hence dont waste your money. This is sold on the benefits of the plastic that we all drink from. I say build a quality product that lasts then we can talk ..

I have always used Brita water filters and have never been disappointed with the quality of products they produce. I have had this particular model for 8 months and it runs just as well as the first day I bought it.

I had 2 of these now for just over a year. They look great, the water flow has always been so slow. When I clean them out I take all the bits off, but why is there so much water inside which takes a good 1/2 hour to empty. by lifting upside down, I am sure these are not very safe anymore, one is leaking all the time from the bottom...These can't be safe to plug in, I may get a shock, they should be recalled, which would cost them high..I will give them a call see what they say..

Britta Water Filter Cooling system -
I have had so many of these filter cooling systems it was becoming joke. I idea in principal was great, but in practice not so. The kids loved having cold water, but we had major flow issues no mater what we did, in total I have had 10 of these units in a just over 2 year period, I was very lucky as my local argos kept changing it for me. I then got one from Tesco's which we had to return as it went wrong, then it went rusty (don't know why), Whilst the silver version was a stylish addition to the kitchen, we all know that looks are not everything and in this case, ain't that the truth.
Overall we were very disappointed with the performance and reliability if the cooler. I would not recommend it to any one especially at the RRP

We are on our third Brita Breville Aqua Fountain over the last 2 years. First broke down after a month or so and was relaced by retailer. The current one was kindly replaced by Britta themselves after an email conversation! It broke down a few days before the 1 year warranty expired. Instead of replacing with original (which was basic white) it was replaced with no fuss by the silver all singing lights blazing one which has behaved well.....until now (about 8 months). It has now started making groaning noises as it chills, doesn't chill consistently and has sometimes refused to dispense water! My husband is convinced there is an air lock as when removing the drain plug underneath nothing came out! But through tipping and persistent fiddling we now have water again but for how long? After this the first few batches smelt very odd but as on each filter change I always sterilise with Milton as per instructions it does worry me what is going on inside! We are also considering plugging it into a timer so its not on whilst we are asleep. This one has about 3-4 months left on warranty. If it breaks down after that I don't think I will bother with another but will revert to the old fridge style one.

noisy and a lot of bother. The spring and metal inside rusts up and it is disgusting slimy water which leaves rust deposits on the plastic water resevoir. All in all a load of rubbish.
On the upside it was quite a pleasant shade of blue as a light in my kitch
en but totally not what I wanted it for.

The support is there if you can wait, however what I do mind is the price of their filters from $ 8.00 per unit to $ 24.00 in seventeen months. If this keeps up some of us will be changing their water system filters once a year.
The unit is great but how about a break on the cost of the water system filters.

I cannot get it to dispense water. With any luck it may be within the guarantee period, but if they have ceased to manufacturing them, as one reviewer stated, I am unsure what worth the guarantee is. But it looks stylish!

Had 4 of these Aqua Water Fountains now as my daughter drinks mainly water & my husband & I like the chilled glass now & again, but as like many others have eventually had to return each 1 either because water stops chilling or part of the blue lighting fails which spoils the look. This is such a pity as it goes perfectly in my stainless steel kitchen, and recently found out that the manufactuer has stopped making them, probably due to too many returns. I think it would have been useful to know that this machine only has a years life max, before purchasing each one as I just assumed I was unlucky.

It has major issues. The most frustrating one is flow problems. Even when it's full and has a new filter, the flow of water is painfully slow and can sometimes just stop altogether.
It's noisy and you can't turn the light off. I bought this for a small office and now I really wish I had just bought a Brita jug for the fridge. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I am on my second one, as the first died. The cooling motor stopped working and it smelt as if it was burning. They changed it without any problem, but now after a few months of using the second one I now discover that the spring under the filter is covered in rust and the water exit hole inside is completely rusty. It would appear we have been drinking rusty water for some time.
The motor is noisy again, especially when first switched on and it does seem to run longer than I would expect for such a small amount of water to chill.
I am going to complain, but I will never buy another one of these.

I bought my water chiller because it was the only one at the time that was stainless steel to go with my other kitchen appliances. Since day one there was always the water flow problem and recently mine starts to leak at the bottom under machine, the front where the switch is and where the two racks stack on top of each other. Mine starting to get surface rust at the bottom all around because of the leakace. Besides this, it makes that terrible humming noise (fan)and that is very annoing specially at night when we go to bed. To solve this I'm switching it on and off for the sound to go away.
It's is stylish and nice but not worth the money that I have paid for R1100.00 (ZAR)
My mom bougth the same machine, besides her water had a unpleasant smell and replace the filter x 2 solving it. Around the inside were the lights is, it also became green.
Not very happy with both our machines and would not recommend it or buy it as a gift.

Purchased Brita Aqua Fountain water filter November 24th 2009, within three weeks I complained of tainted water, I actually changed the filter twice thinking it may be a faulty filter. Brita advised me to proceed as if new and rinse through again, which I had already done twice. January 2010 smell of over heating in unit, then cleared, worked for a further 4 hours before it went completely. Returned to Brita, Feb 1st on their instructions in order for a replacement to be forwarded to me. Today Feb 12th I am informed that they have ceased production and a refund will be forthcoming --------------- so now it's back to a jug in the fridge!

I am now on to my third Aqua Fountain and although the water is cool the fan never stops running and makes loud noises, i have just contacted Briat as my gauarantee is out of date by a few months so i will see what they can do. you would have thought by now that they would take the product off the market if so many people all over the world are having similar problems.

I don't write reviews.
DO NOT BUY THIS STYLISH OBJECT.
I've struggled with poor flow due to an air lock for ages. Changing the filter does not cure.
What else is there in the market? Haven't found one yet.
Meanwhile, find other means of engineering fresh cool elixir of life.
Why can't I score this thing zero overall????

Like others, now onto our third water cooler which has just stopped cooling the water. Fan still running but water warm. Stylish looking machine, the blue lights look good unfortunately all three machines have developed the same fault within six months. Wouldn't have another one.
