“counter weight fell off”

Written on: 09/06/2012 by alanjazz

WT540 less than 4 years old.the soap dispenser tray gets covered in black mould unless cleaned and dried by hand regularly. The lights flash continuously, so have to keep turning off at mains to reset. The concrete counterweight at the lower front end of the drum fell off! this was due to the fact that the heavy concrete is bolted into soft plastic which over time just breaks away...the spin cycle becomes noisey as the concrete becomes unstable and then the machine becomes unusable when the concrete falls off.
I contacted Hotpoint ( indesit owned ) customer service and explained the design fault ( this is not a general wear and tear item ) and what had happened, they were adamant that this was down to lack of maintenance on my part! which is rediculous as who actually strips down their machine in order to check the concrete blocks, which should never actually come loose anyway!
they then asked me to pay £130 call out for an engineer to inspect the machine.....what a joke! so I bought a new Bosch washer......much better quality..........do not buy Hotpoint, they are rubbish!
