Went for a meal there as one of our party was celebrating a very special birthday. The background music was horrendous. Celine Dion screeching her lungs out all night. Food was very mediocre, steak was tough, and over priced. Service was very poor, we had to wait at least half an our or more for a drink. We felt as though we were being pushed through the door and to vacate our table for the next siting. No atmosphere there at all. Will not be returning there again.

food, service and atmosphere good, suitable for families, big groups, child friendly. The spaghetti maronara is really nice if you are a seafood fan, value for money average, vesuvios is fine if you just want good, basic italian food

The others reviews seems to have been written by non Italians, I think that's the reason for the score so high. If you are Italian, I think the food was very ordinary and the pizza... well it didn't come up to scratch... I should know, am Neapolitan!

I would advise you take a visit to Pizzeria Vesuvio in Swansea - but avoid peak times on a sat!

As general, pizzaria vesuvio can be become the great one in Swansea. All the need is management, I hope it really comes by 1 day all people in Swansea at least go there for once.

This is a couple of times a year watering hole of ours.
We think that it is very down to earth, friendly and offers an obliging service.
My wife has an intolerance of garlic (and it's an Italian Restaurant!).
They always oblige us without any qualm as they cook from fresh.
The food is very good, and certainly plentiful.
Be careful with the home made bread at the start... we find that it fills you up, not leaving enough space for the main course!
The portions seem to have got smaller in recent years, thankfully.
If you like no pretensions and good food this is the place.
One of my favourite watering holes in Swansea. Our famous poet would have loved it!
Lunchtime meals are a bargain.

Pizzeria Vesuvio in Swansea, is a great place, child friendly, home made tastes and flavours with great service. Not a romantic tete-a-tete sort of place and slightly expensive but generally a really good night out.

In addition to it's Pizzas, the Vesuvio Italian Pizzeria in Swansea offers an interesting and creative menu with dishes like 'Hake in lava bread sauce', which I'm assured by a fellow diner was delicious. The pasta dishes seem a bit ordinary, and the steaks are served with so much sauce that the flavour of the meat is destroyed, which always leads me to suspect that that was the intention. If you do order steak here ask for the sauce separate from the dish.
The menu also offers some interesting starters which are good, and the biggest surprise was that the deserts (or at least some of them) were not the usual 'bought in' rubbish. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the atmosphere isn't really conducive to good eating. This is in part due to the decor, hard furnishings, and bright lights. Add this to noisy customers (parties and families). However it is a 'Pizzeria' as opposed to an 'Italian restaurant', and the Italians don't mind noise at meal times, and love families.
