This high level Executive Car has received a mainly favourable - although sometimes mixed - reaction from our reviewers. The majority are delighted while some have experienced technical problems of, usually, an electrical nature. Volvos aim with S80 was to compete in the high end luxury Executive market. When launched in 1998 the Volvo S80 was reviewed well and has seen sales grow steadily rather than dramatically. For example, of the 49,651 large saloons sold in the UK in 2002, 3,492 were S80s. It has an excellent record for safety and handling but earlier models in particular were perceived by some as lacking in style.

Item: Volvo S80 T-6
I owned my Volvo T6 for over 12 months and it didn't go wrong once. Ultra reliable and that with 120K miles on the clock. Since the I have had an MGZT 2.5 V6 (for 6 terrible weeks) and currently have an Hyundai Coupe V6 which I am going to sell soon to buy another S80 as I am now a convert. Probably will get the D5 for fuel ...

If you buy a manual you probably will get a great car, but the Auto is like arguing with the sun. You'll only come away burned!! As a car it was very good, with a great ride, adequate handling and road-holding, all the important equipment with a clear modern layout. But its a Volvo still, and so it is boring. Item: Volvo S80 T-6
I was not a Volvo fan when I took my wife to see the XC90. She did not want to buy at that time but we saw a 2002 S80 T6, end of year deal. I drove it, love the horsepower, loved the ride, could not believe it was a Volvo. 0-6 is 6.5, top speed of 155? A Volvo? That power means the engine is not stressed too much on the interstate. Got a super deal, $10,000 off and I bought my first (and only to date) Volvo.
