Launched in 1996 the Sharan is a quality larger size seven seater people carrier. Its more expensive than many of the alternatives from other manufacturers but does offer some extra features and a good reputation for reliability. A wide choice of petrol and diesel engines are available and there was also a 4motion all-wheel drive model during the initial production run. In 2004 it was given a makeover developing a more contemporary look. From 2006 there was another transformation refining the elegance and the range was cut down. Expect further enhancements from what is becoming a good seller for VW.

    Bought the Volkswagen Sharan 2.0 S new. Done 150 000 miles. Carries on going and going. Most practical vehicle I have had. Good for transporting the family, for transporting furniture, going to the recycling centre, transporting bikes etc etc. Very few minor problems in 12 years.

    I don't think i will see it again - but - The Volkswagen Sharan 2.0 S has been a great car for 6 years with very few problems and strangely - i will miss it. It had done a lot of mileage but it seemed like it had plenty to go.

    Satisfied to have bought it. Not the most reliable of vehicles but good to drive and quite comfortable. Quickly goes through tyres and brakes.     "If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen"

    Well, based on our experience I am glad that everything else in life seems to be infitely MORE reliable than my accursed Sharan. What a good car it could have been if it had been put together a little better, using better components. ...
