Click below to read car reviews of the Volkswagen Passat. At Review Centre we have thousands of reviews of cars including other Volkswagen makes and models, both new and used, like the Volkswagen Golf, the Volkswagen Polo and the Volkswagen Beetle.
The Passat is a family car produced in various forms by Volkswagen since 1973 renowned for its reliability and sturdy build quality. Although for many years a bog standard looking saloon/estate from 2000 onward the Passat developed considerably, losing its chunky shape, becoming better more aerodynamic looking, more powerful and better performing with a more luxurious interior. The choice of trim levels currently includes E, S, Sport, SE and SEL. Even the base S models have air con, alloys, 6 airbags and stability control.
The 2.0 Litre TDI 170 PS are a good example of the range, no slouchers, they are capable of 0-62 in 8.6secs and with reasonable combined fuel efficiency of 42.2mpg. Another reason to consider the modern Passat is that it comes with a 5 star NCAP rating, making it one of the safest cars around.

I was initially please with the VW Passat 1.9 Trendline 05/05. It was one year old when I bought it. Needed a new cambelt (after 35,000), new rear disc pads and discs, new tyre- total cost £1,100. Two weeks later I noticed that one wheel was held to the vehicle by just two of the five bolts (even the locking wheelnut was ...

VW Passat TDI 130BHP Highline 05 plate - 2005 has fantastic spec right down to the heated leather seats + all the gadgets and mod cons, esp, climate control, cruise control, onboard computer etc. But has great poke and is brilliant fun to drive. Love it when the turbo kicks in even at reletively low revs. Has fantastic fuel economy - pushing 50 miles to the gallon when compared to my previous car which was a ford focus tdi engine which only did 38 mpg.
Absolutely blown away by how good ...

For the first 2 failures, the car was drivable so no courtesy car needed, until the handbrake seized.
I called VW in swindon for advise, no answer and no call back. The car was carried to VW in swindon to be repaired, no problem, this will be fixed under warranty. Great, "can I have a courtesy car?" NO NOT COVERED under VW 3 year warranty. Car failed on Monday, earliest time to repair ...
