Item: Vauxhall Zafira Comfort 1.6
I bought a new 02 Vauxhall Zafira comfort, after about 2 and half years the gearbox went (hairline crack which caused gearbox oil to leak, probably there from new, but not covered as guarantee was run out, had to replace with 2nd hand unit), the internal lights kept going on and staying on, fixed by main dealer, fuel consumption of this car is crazy!
the ABS light came on, took to main dealer, he replaced wheel sensor, then told me there might be another problem that caused it, but it would ...

Goes like "off a stick" for a family mpv not a lot can touch it for performance.
Very thirsty and if you have any engine trouble its down to Vauxhall for there little chaps with the computer at nice prices

Item: Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 Elegance 16V
Had an 01 Elegance 2.2 until recently. Unfortunately we were hit from behind while stationary and the car was written off. I am impressed with the strength of the car because we drove it home afterwards. We had the car for 3 years and the only problem we had was with the cam chain snapping. This apparently is a known fault with these engines. We are going to buy another one but are going to steer clear of the 2.2 and probably go for the 1.8 ...

Item: Vauxhall Zafira Design 2.2i 16v Direct
Had mine from new on 55 plate, at 35,000 miles now. No issues yet. 3 new sets of front tyres and 2 new sets of brakes - had the first set under Vauxhall warranty - so get in quick if you need some and have done less than 27,000 (the cut off point).
Despite earlier review, mine is very quiet on the road. Great fun to drive (and I came from a Maserati!) ESP is very good - just don't turn it off as I did once - mad!
Get the sport mode and be prepared to surprise ...
