“ NEVER AGAIN - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Coffey1950 on 21/08/2017

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED In the many years of hireing cars and vans this must be the worst company I have ever had to deal with. 1: Van not left in the location given. 2: Unable to unlock Van with code given so had to contact HQ. 3: van smells like an animal had died in it. 4: Van looks like it had never been cleaned EVER. Pet hair all over the passenger seat and driver seat stained. 5: Van drove like a pile of rubbish. 6: Told to leave the engin running if you need to use the tail lift. 7: Unable to lock the back shutter as there was no lock and just being held by a single bit of wire. 8: Rear shutter totally damaged. When I informed I CAN HIRE of all the issues the first thing the Franchise owner said was 'Whats your problem' (rather than 'Sorry, how can we help you), then 'Have you hired from us before, because I can tell you now you won't be hireing from us again' All this in the opening moments of a conversation....Great customer service I ended up just putting the keys back in the van and telling them to come and collect it. NEVER AGAIN - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

“Court Case Pending”

★☆☆☆☆

written by zoFrazier1977 on 25/08/2016

I had used icanhire previously and found them pretty bad... but cheap.... That is the first thing to note. On hiring the van I was involved in an incident through no fault of my own. Police attended along with ambulances. Icanhire have deemed my driving as careless (although the Police have not!!) and are now suing me for £12,000. Court date is set and so will update you with how I get on but I am fighting it all the way. The Director I have been dealing with is extremely rude and arrogant and from since reading other reviews .... he likes to go to court for a day out and generally lose!

“The ABSOLUTEEEEEEEE Worst”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DakotaMacLeod295 on 27/04/2016

I had used H&H in the past but recently used a down-market alternative - Ican Hire. When I returned to H&H last week, the differences and benefits were startlingly clear – quality vans, terrific staff, no small print, no extras, positivity and friendliness everywhere. As a result, I thoroughly recommend this magic company to one [H&H] and all as I will be using them without fail. Honestly! For Ican hire users, honestly folks, lift your heads above the rim and look at H&H and see the light, smell the difference and deal with true professionals who actually care - give it a go because you will be pleasantly surprised. Cheap does not have to mean lowest common denominator.

“Disgusting vehicles, service and customer care”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SavanahLeslie on 18/03/2016

Disgusting. Hired vehicle and filled with petrol instead of diesel. No stickers on key fob, fuel cap, confirmation email or even website to suggest it was a diesel hire. They have tried to take money from my credit card without my permission. Have been threatened with legal case should I not agree to pay costs.

“Charlatons!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tzCrouch238 on 18/01/2016

This van was in the worst state, a real death wagon. Luckily we survived the journey until the van broke down, the customer service was fairly shoddy, they kept trying to imply there was nothing at all wrong with the van and that we'd be facing a £200 call out fee and have to get the vehicle back ourselves somehow, even though it wouldn't go into first gear and so there wouldn't really have been a way to get it anywhere. Anyway in the end they agreed to come and get it and said they'd pay for us to get back, they claim to have sent a cheque but I've never received it, they took money from my account for petrol, but they did give it back. They reckon they can't possibly give me a refund by any other means than cheque, so I'm still hoping that maybe they'll send it to me one day, but who knows. Generally an all round nightmare of a company with dangerous vehicles and no sense of responsibility to their fellow man.

I totally agree. We have all gotten used to cheapskate pop-ups firms that hide their shortcomings in small print. However when a vehicle hire company leaves their vans unprotected for days or weeks prior to unsuspecting hirers arriving and driving them away, we have to question the ethics of a business plan that places profit ahead of possible dangers (tyre problems, to mention just one factor).
This bunch go to a special place in Hell!

“Beware ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Emerydl242 on 28/01/2015

I am a solicitor working for the CAB and helped a client who faced Icanhire's claim for £4,000 for damaging a van which should have been covered by the insurance. The court threw out Icanhire's claim, but it was a long stressful process. Reading the reviews elsewhere it appears that was not the first time that they have done this. Customers have also reported Icanhire taking money they have no right to from credit cards that without permission and blaming customers for pre-existing damage and supplying vehicles in filthy and unsafe condition. The director is rude and aggressive. Beware of this company.

“Disgusting ”

Hired a van from Tooting to move house. The van was in awful state, it took me and my wife over half an hour to find a key that was not in a key safe. The van had a massive scratch mark on the passenger side that was reported in the damage log book in the glove compartment. Four weeks later Icanhire charged us £150 for the scratch mark that was not caused by us!!!! They took money out of my bank account without my authorisation. They only check their vans occasionally and it seems that they charge damage costs from everyone who hired the van before they noticed the damage! Avoid at any cost but if you have to use them make sure you take photos of the vehicle and the log book.

“ICANHIRE - ABSOLUTELY APPALLING EXPERIENCE - AVOID AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Romanning on 27/06/2014

This company really is one to AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We hired a van which was in appalling condition, filthy, smelly and broke down almost immediately leaving my husband in a very dangerous condition on the M4. This is a 'Self-serve' company which means the vans are parked on the side of a random road, so if something goes wrong or you need further help you have to ring the call centre. Unfortunately the 3 times I had to call them I was left in a phone queue for nearly 40 mins - every single time. After spending nearly 2 hours in total on hold, waiting for my call to be answered I finally got through to someone and was told I could expect a full refund that day, and over a week later they still haven't refunded the payment! I was also promised a member of the senior team would call me the following business day, and there was no call! I even called back again (another 40 mins on hold) to chase payment and speak to a senior person, and guess what, no call back, and no refund! They really couldn't give less of a stuff about their customers if they tried. So please don't waste your time and money. Oh BTW I've since hired a van from Sixt who were brilliant and cheaper too!

“Do not use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Vargasih332 on 09/05/2014

Used Ican hire to move home, such a bad traumatic time I picked the van up from a side road in ilford Essex, it was a mission to find the van and the keys, I got the van unlocked by remote locking via a text message, it had no keys in its safe as it was broke, I finally found them after searching for 15 minuets started the van to discover it had about 2 pounds worth of fuel in it, I just managed to get it to a petrol station and filled the van up. The van was in a bad state I was concerned about using it but I was on a time limit to get my move done. The van drove ok for the first 20 miles from Ilford then started juddering I was petrified as I am pregnant and had kids to get home to I thought the van was going to brake down. I only just made it to my destination then had to re fuel Again the juddering continued and it then went in to limp mode max speed 40 mph. I got it to my new home then unloaded the van, I then treys to start the van and it would not start I was so stressed at this point I was sick, I phoned Ican van hire and after an hour of waiting in a cue I got through I explained what had happened they did not give a dam! I was so stressed and angry at this point and told them to come and collect the van as I had to get back to my children in Essex 80 mile away. I managed to get a ride home with my dad, ICAN had recovered the van in 2 hours. They never contacted me again even though they said they was going to call me. A few days later I went to my bank to my horror Thayer had stolen nearly £900 pound from bank account I was in such a state I was crying they had taken money from bank without authorisation I had no money left to pay my bills and by food for my children. I reported them to the card Fraud department it my bank. Who investigated it then got my money back after 10 days. I canceled my card and got a new one. Two months later they had some how managed to steel another £300 from my bank account but thankfully the bank fraud department was aware and got my money back strait away. Please do not use ICAN HIRE., I Do NOT RECOMMEND
