I paid over £2,500 for a 60 credit module (Sport and Fitness Degree - fitness pathway) and this is what I got:
2 books
A DVD
Access to the course website, which has a tutor group forum (the only way of getting help from the tutor), a few online activities and not a lot else
5 online group tutorials which didn't do much more than go over information we already had about our assessments
5 assessments marked - no draft submission, you submit your assessment and that's it, the mark counts towards your final score
This is what I got for my money. Absolute rip off. Even what you get isn't quality. A lot of it is out of date - information from 2007 about what you can do on the internet is no use to anyone 7 years on and some of the links to sites in the online activities don't work because the sites don't exist any more. Although I took the fitness pathway, the whole course is sport oriented. Just don't waste your money.

You're right. I've studied with them on science and social science modules since 2006 and, on many modules especially recently, the links on the online activities don't work because they're out of date. The university don't bother to fix this. On my pathway it's been necessary to use a climate model, which never ran on my computer, despite my having windows 7 and most up to date, compatible software. University didn't care, just brushed me off. Useless.
In the forums, I've been ignored for the most part when I tried to have intelligent discussion. Where dot hey attract their students from - jail? They seem to be slow and rude.
I want to do a masters and don't know if it'll be with them.

I once took an OU course where the tutor at the face to face tutorial revealed he tutored people in a local prison! I have come across some vile comments sometimes on forums in the past (now the OU do monitor much more carefully) and wondered if it was the criminals in the prison.
