Having been to 4 universities, I can say the OU is up there at the top - for distance learning and a good academic level. It takes a lot of self-discipline to maintain the effort but the quality of the modules is high and there is support. Of course sometimes it can feel a bit lonely but that's part and parcel of the experience. I studied 4 modules at Master's level. The first two I thoroughly enjoyed. I only had problems with the third (no longer running so defunct and not an issue). I think the older modules run smoother as they have a chance to mature, somthing that lacked in the last 'new' module.
Overall it was worth it and a good choice.
