“OU is great and definitely not for lazy and stupid idiots”

I've just completed my last module and am expecting to graduate with LLB(Hons)Law first-class degree. I have enjoyed every minute of it. I am proud to be an OU graduate. I can tell you it is not for lazy and stupid idiots as AnnoyedOUer suggests (anyway, I wouldn's trust an opinion of a person who studied in the OU for two months!!!). You need to be self-motivated and self-disciplined and be able to work independently to succeed in distance education. Its not for everyone. I have no idea why some people here have been so dissatisfied with it. May be they expect it to be easy and then get frustrated when they realise it is hard work.

Level 2 and 3 course materials are written by the College of Law, the number 1 Law School in the UK, and are great. All of my tutors have been very supportive. The OU states that 16 hours of study per week is the minimum time required, which I understand is the number of hours required for a pass. It is not enough to study 16 hours if you want an excellent grade. The more time you invest in it, the better grades you will get. Also, there is noone to spoon-feed you. Be prepared to motivate and discipline yourself and work hard.
