“Avoid this company”

★☆☆☆☆

I purchase medical insurance ( or what I thought was medical insurance) on the 23rd Friday PM , i realised my mistake and got on chat with the company explained it was wrong and was told i had to email them. I emailed and an arrogant guy the Director replied and said I cant get a refund of €520 due to me clicking im already travelling ???? I live in ireland and my nationality and address of my parents is in europe so the website instructed to select already travelling if tour outside your country of nationality. I am moving to Canada soon (which I needed it for) but now im down €520 due to these tricksters This is crappy travel insurance and imagine if they can easily take your money and refuse to give anythi g back, good luck in trying to claim anything! I just have to warn everyone about this. There must be a explaination for global cizitzens like us living in a third country purchasing this insurance going to another country

“www.adventuretravelinsurance.co.uk - great value”

Am off for 6 months round the world on boxing day and have been looking for travel insurance that doesn't blow my budget. I've checked out a lot of sites and the cheapest found by far is this one. 6 months cover including white water rafting and high altitude trekking for £164, if you take the backpacker option. All the stuff on a similar policy from World Nomads is covered, but they were charging over £200! I'd rather spend that when I'm travelling.

I was not impressed. When I found out that they would not cover returning home for a sick relative AT ALL, not even if we paid a higher premium, I wanted to cancel well before the policy was due to kick in. They flat out refused and tried to tell me that no one covers for sick relatives without a medical form being filled out on behalf of every family member, showing that they had no previous illness. This is a sham, I have been flown home for a dying grandparent with no questions asked with my other insurance. Further, TT provided no cover for cancellation and curtailment.

All in all, they are useless unless you nearly die or have serious medical issues. There are far more issues in life to be included.

When I had to cancel due to a serious incident which was not under their cover, they refunded 50 per cent. I cancelled my entire trip for one year, one month in. They kept five months of my money for no reason at all, notwithstanding the previous request to cancel their cover well in advance of the start of the policy.

They are a sham.

How bizarre. I had to claim when I was in New Zealand and they were great. I'm surprised you got a refund for something that you weren't covered for. I don't think many insurance companies would do that. sounds like you've done ok. Anyway I had no problems and have recommended them to my friends.

I am pleased you had a good experience. It has gone from bad to worse for us. They will not allow us to make a fair comment / review on their website, which is scandalous. They have Trust Pilot reviews live on their website but simply refuse to give me an Order ID in order that I may make a comment. No wonder they only have good reviews. Good luck with your trip! :)

I couldn't do Trustpilot either as I booked over the phone with them. A shame as I wanted to, as they were so helpful as I lost all my insurance documents and had to contact them from hospital in Queenstown. Within 5 minutes their emergency people were speaking with the hospital. I was amazed! I should update my original post really, as I did that before I left.

Good for you. They have been terrible. They can get any technician to send an Order ID. Their company generates them, how many people buy online without speaking to them? So, in reality not many people get the order id especially those who have negative and accurate comments.

“Www.adventuretravelinsurance.co.uk - good value”

Wanted to get some insurance to cover me for a 12 month backpacker policy including some trekking in Nepal, but couldn't believe how much it was going to cost. Found this company through Google and similar cover was £217 for the year compared to £250 with Insure & Go. Medical cover for both policies is £5m but with adventuretravelinsurance.co.uk you get £25k for personal accident compared with only £10k with Insure & Go and even if I added on winter sports, it's still comes under £250 whilst Insure & Go bumps it up to over £500!
