“No good!”

Written on: 29/03/2012

Last year, I took out an annual travel insurance. I went to visit my daughter in Australia with a return ticket to London. Having been there for only two weeks, we received devastating news that my husband had died suddenly whilst in South Africa.
The logistics of organising the funeral from outside the country from Australia was bad enough and within a limited time. I had to book a new return flight via South Africa to attend his funeral before returning back to England and that was a nightmare in itself.
I finally returned back to put in a claim. At the time, I was not in a state to be able to fight the Post Office insurance company, who would not pay out for my return trip to England, as I obviously could not fly back on the return date of my original booking.
Under these awful circumstances I found myself in, I received no reimbursement for half the total fare originally booked, as I could not use my return ticket, nor alternatively, any compensation for a newly booked flight from South Africa.
They now have the audacity to send me a renewal advice to renew my annual insurance!
I thought the Post Office would be a dependable insurance provider when in need. Apparently not!
I have never ever had to put in a claim before for anything, so I am very disillusioned now with this insurance provider.
