I found "Your Holidays" on the internet and called them, the sales agent was very helpful and was full of information about different hotels, she worked hard to get us the family holiday we were looking for. Paperwork was emailed to me very soon after booking and travel documents approximately 3 weeks prior to travel. Amazing holidays!! I bought this trip through www.icelolly.co.uk I use this web all the time, the reps are always helpful. Flew with Thomas Cook, which is exactly the same as easy yet or ryanairs. “Worst Hotel Ever!”

SMARTLINE CRIOULA - DO NOT GO!!! This holiday was the worst holiday we have ever had we went April 2016, I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there, there was cockroaches in the food in the restaurant, running over our arms in the bar area, our rooms had to be fumigated due to baby cockroaches on the bed, local dogs and cats hovering around the outside bit off the restaurant whilst your eating, resident cats on the complex weeing and pooing in the sand under the sun loungers where children play… Read Full Review

Transfer from airport to Parque Santiago 3 was poor. Had to wait over an hour. The hotel, however had excellent facilities. Apartment was well equipped and cleaned daily. Hotel room was fab ,, the lift was dodgy kept dropping 3/4 floors ,, faulty electrics so lights kept coming on in the night,, very thin walls could hear everythin ,, no blind to block light out of bedroom from hall light ,, only had our room cleaned twice out of 14 nights ,, wouldn stay in that hotel again ,,, but will be going back to Benidorm next year somewhere near the old town… Read Full Review

“Terrible Experience In Cuba ”

Our supposed 'All Inclusive' stay in The Ocean Varadero El Patriaca, Cuba was definitely the worst foreign holiday we have ever been on in decades of package holidays in various countries all over the world. The room was dirty, food lukewarm and disgusting, the customer service non existent unless you are a big tipper and it was almost impossible to get served at the main bar even when there are 3 staff behind the bar and you are the only customer! Arrived in Cuba and was allocated 15 room in bungalow number 32. The towels were grubby looking and did not smell clean. We walked out to the restaurant in the twilight and noted that lots of the walk way lamps were not working, making visibility difficult and finding the way to the main block and restaurant quite difficult. We saw a pack of feral dogs on the way which was a little unsettling. The buffet in the dimly lit main restaurant was very poor, unless you like shellfish your options are very limited. They had a chef cooking meat to order and we felt the sight of the raw pork chops resting on a platter of blood waiting to be cooked very unappetising. The cooked chops looked undercooked and a tummy bug risk. We tried to put a meal together with the options available and found it difficult. The salad was laid out with shell fish - some razor shells and tiny shells with some kind of grub thing inside - this put us off the salad, the cold meat selection was under cooked with beef being pink to raw in the centre and brown and cooked around the edges. The potatoes on offer looked like instant mash with a grey colour to it and was topped with gherkins, silver skin onions and red peppers. The hot food tended to be lukewarm and the cold items not kept cold enough - the ice cream was melting. My husband and I have been going on package holidays for decades (since we were children) and neither of us can recall such poor food except perhaps my first holiday in Lloret de Mar circa 1970 before the Spanish learned how to cater for British, German and other tourists. If it hadn't been for the Italian a la Carte I do not know how we would have coped, the breakfast in the main restaurant was awful - their attempt at English Breakfast was lukewarm bacon and undercooked eggs, if you opted for cereal then you had to ask for milk and as usual the staff seemed to resent having to assist and took a very long time to get it for you. The waiting staff were meant to offer tea coffee and cold drinks - they were keen to pour the bottled water which tasted suspiciously like the tap water, but seemed to resent being asked for anything else such as wine (at lunch or dinner) or soft drinks e.g. Fanta.
The room was never cleaned very well and it seemed like the towels were just dried and replaced rather than washed - they never smelled of washing detergent or fabric conditioner - more like body odour. The staff in the hotel were mostly rude, unless you were able to tip they ignored you. The reception desk and the main bar being the worst - after the first week we gave up trying to get served in the main bar - they were selective who they served and it appeared to be only those who tipped who got good service. They even ignored you when there was nobody else to serve preferring to potter around with the coffee machine or cleaning glasses to giving you a drink!
The Thomas Cook Rep was obviously unhappy in his job and the only time he expressed any enthusiasm at all was when he was regaling the tourists with how much the Cubans needed the tips in order to survive in their impoverished country. This attitude was duplicated by all the tour guides on the trips arranged through Thomas Cook. When paying the fairly expensive price of these trips, to then be told to tip the driver and every person involved in providing the trip e.g. the person feeding the crocodiles at the crocodile farm and told how much they expected to be tipped, it becomes either expensive or embarrassing when you have not budgeted for the additional cost of tips.

The gardens were well tended but the maintenance of lighting and drains was very poor - there was a man hold cover left off for 2 days and this was a Health and Safety concern in the daylight but during evening and night became down right dangerous especially considering the lack of bulbs in the lamps. There were golf buggy transport run by electricity which were silent and often driven quite fast causing a feeling of anxiety as to when they were about to speed by you, again at night time this issue was made worse by the lack of adequate street lighting and also the buggies did not use headlights even though they appeared to have them.

During our stay we celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We told Guest Services about this and had a lovely meal in the Italian a la Carte restaurant, she also arranged for us to have breakfast in our room - this was not such a success - it consisted of some tinned fruit salad, American breakfast which was 1 rasher of bacon and some scrambled egg - both of which were lukewarm and some horrible looking grey instant mashed potato topped with gherkins, silver skin onion and red pepper, We also got pancakes which would have been nice if they had not had some awful sauce which tasted a bit like marmite on them.
Near to the end of the holiday we had an infestation of insects in the room. The nice lady from guest services arranged for us to have an upgrade to a new room in the Privilege area. This should have been good, however the room they moved us into was not clean - there was excrement on the toilet seat and there was no bath towels or drinks in the mini bar. The food in the Privilege restaurant was much better than the main restaurant and would have been acceptable if we could have had that for the whole holiday.
The staff at this hotel really need to improve their customer service skills - the reception staff reminded us (and other guests we spoke to) of the Little Britain sketch where the catch phrase is "The Computer says no..." they even refused to lend us a pen for a moment!!! The waiting staff in the main restaurant would take your order then make you wait a ridiculously long time for the drinks whilst either talking to other members of staff or serving other guests (probably tippers), the only friendly and helpful staff we encountered were the nice gardeners who work very hard (and we did give them a tip of our own choice at the end of the holiday!), the lovely Amelia in the piano bar and all the staff in the Italian a la Carte. The staff in the Chinese a la Carte were also quite polite. We tried to visit the Cuban a la Carte on 2 occasions but had to walk out because it smelled very badly of raw meat and blood a bit like a butcher's shop.

We visited mid May. It was lovely and sunny and we only had one day it rained. The hotel was clean. They never cleaned the bathroom glasses though so STAY AWAY from those. The food was AMAZING for all inclusive we got such a variety of food which is fab because I'm a bit picky with food. Only negative was there were no teabags...
