We were supposed to stay in a house in Birmingham for a weekend in May. When we arrived at the property it was surrounded by scaffolding and we were unable to park on the driveway as the workmen were ripping off the roof and throwing it on the drive. My experience with Wimdu I booked accommodation in February 2015 through Wimdu in Malta for the summer. The price, Eur 250, was blocked on my bank account. In early May 2015 my host cancelled my booking. We booked an apartment in Paris over new year but just before we left we realised that we had been taken in when the "property owners" stopped corresponding. They advertised their property on Wimdu, who claim to have checked all listings and all correspondance was sent on fabricated Wimdu headed paperwork. I have read some of the reviews here and it is a joke. This company is horrible for both the guest and the host. All they want is their fee up front and they disappear. There is no phone number to call and you must write an e-mail. After they have their fee in hand they will pay the Owner only after the guest has been inside the unit.It the reservation is for one year in advance as is on many high end rentals the guest pays 100% up front and the owner waits a year. I am extremely disappointed with WIMDU as I had booked accommodation with them in good faith that if the property was not satisfactory a full refund would be provided. Unfortunately this isn't the case. Their "guaranteed satisfaction" promise is sham. If you are fortunate enough to book a property which is as it claims to be, then there is no problem. Exactly my experience! Even when the host refunds the money to Wimdu, they are painfully slow at refunding it to you. I am also going to make sure I tell as many people as possible about their unethical ways.

We received a Wimdu booking for a guest staying 3 nights over the weekend. Wimdu's booking confirmation came through and we checked the guest in the same day. So far so good! 3 days later, the day the guest had checked out (!), Wimdu (!) cancelled the booking and now refuses to pay us for the guest's stay!!! WTF??? I booked a Villa in Marrakech advertised as Spacious Moroccan Villa + Garden. I have just had my second booking stay with me. They have been delighted however, they have now left and there are no funds in my bank account. On the first booking I did receive an email of confirmation from Wimdu and a confirmation that funds would be in my bank account. I own a vacation rental home in Costa Rica and when I came across WIMDU decided to list it with them. Their approach is very similar to Airbnb or Tripadvisor, the only difference is that while they let you upload all your information, photos, location, etc.. yourself, WIMDU asks you to send it to them so their IT department can do it, which I did. I requested a booking, and never heard anything back. Then it was discovered 10 days later that the response had come into my SPAM file. Instead of being understanding and helping me through the process, WIMDU ripped me off, charging my credit card without my authorization and keeping more than 20% of my payment when I asked for a refund, since it was too late to use the accommodation that they claimed I had booked.
