“Terrible service!”

Written on: 13/07/2013 by Muck77 (1 review written)

I just traveled Europe using various sites to book apartments with no issues and with great success - however when we arrived in London with our apartment booked and paid through Wimdu, we found the apartment managers had overbooked. Wimdu were totally unhelpful and basically left us in the street with our bags and nowhere to stay! When I booked, they charged my credit card within minutes - however it took six days to get my refund! Terrible, terrible service from an accommodation site. I… Read Full Review

“Worst website for hosts”

Written on: 02/07/2013

Wmdu is not hostfriendly, Airbnb is so much better! Payments are easy and customer service is 10 times better. And airbnb is cheaper for guests because the fee is lower and guests can accually see response times of hosts and things like that. I had a problem with a guest once through airbnb and they really helped me! Wimdu just bothers you with useless phone calls and emails by people who are obviously geman and do not speak english very well… Read Full Review

“Conned by person,Wimdu helpline unavailable, left no option”

Written on: 26/04/2013

I arranged a visit with the person letting thier property, thank fully as I was cautious about how she spoke about other let agreements. She forgot I had booked for that week as well!!! Not a great start! When I visited with someone else, she had a glass of wine in her hand and spent the entire visit complaining about builders she had just sacked and compliaing how much it was going to cost to mend the damage they had done to her walls and floor. she had a complaint about every room with a… Read Full Review

“Forget Wimdu - use Airbnb”

Written on: 23/04/2013 by loneuser (1 review written)

I rent my apartment through Airbnb and Wimdu. I have the same price set for each, but because greedy Wimdu take more commission - and extraordinary amount more than Airbnb, my price is higher on Wimdu. Guests don't know this. Aside from that, Wimdu is extremely aggressive in their pursuit of money, phoning me every time I have a booking that I haven't replied to yet, where I'm perfectly capable of managing my bookings. Their website and user/guest interface is truly terrible - a hastily cobbled… Read Full Review

“Controlling, Incompetent Customer Service for Hosts”

Written on: 27/02/2013 by TravelStay (1 review written)

Started listing on Wimdu after AirBnB was subjected to new tax demands by our lovely government. If ever I've disliked an organization, this would be it. 1. CONTROLLING If AirBnB is that cool older sibling who trusts you to know what you are doing, Wimdu is that nagging one who is consistently looking over your shoulder to make sure you're responding to every single inquiry and punishing you with leeeeengthy politely-written essays - oops, emails - and the deactivation of your listings if… Read Full Review

“User Fee Surprise”

Written on: 26/02/2013

Like another user said...........I too was slugged with a whopping users fee. After spending a considerable time choosing and then conversing with the owner of the property............I was blind sided with an enormous users fee (as a last step in the booking process).........one that I did not see coming.......am embarrased to say......which I paid (I was tired and did not want to start the accommodation review process again.....my fault). I would recommend that users be aware of such… Read Full Review

“Very good website, i can recommend”

Written on: 18/02/2013

I like the options that the website gives you - like showing the properties on the map, showing prices including all charges... Also the reviews you give and the account that you have and reviews you gain from the owners of the properties - this creates a better database that allows you to know better the person you let in your property/ the person who is going to be your landlord. Also the vouchers I very much like… Read Full Review

“beware of using Wimdu”

Written on: 02/02/2013 by paulinegibbons (1 review written)

We paid £2700 for a Miami apartment. Money taken out but no confirmation came (promised to confirm within 24 hours). Then the apartment we booked was advertised again but this time for £5000. Now we are out of pocket and have nowhere to stay. BEWARE of this company. Just hope my credit card company will fight to get our money back… Read Full Review

“THIS IS A SCAM!”

Written on: 07/01/2013

We booked the condo at 5005 Collins Ave Miami Beach via wimdu.com for year-end vacation. According to the property ad it was supposed to be 2 bedrooms and 2 baths condo. When we arrived at this location it turned out the apartment is 1 bed room plus a small den and 1 bath. In addition, the condo at our arrival was extremely dirty and full of mold, and Internet and a TV were not working. We called the owner the same day we arrived and asked where is the second bedroom and bath is in this condo… Read Full Review

“Great for Tourist - Living Hell for the Neighbors”

Written on: 19/12/2012

In my apartment block, a residential complex in Amsterdam, the residents have had enough of Wimdu and Arbnb clients. The arrival of these highly successful marketing and booking sites has caused a great deal of conflict between neighbors. For a period there were three apartments in our block being rented through these site. They bought so many tourists. All the time the sound of luggage trolleys being wheeled past our windows; constantly having to clean the dirt and mud that tourists dragged… Read Full Review

“Fast and easy”

Written on: 18/12/2012

The description of the apartment we rented was very accurate and the pictures depicted the elements very well. The apartment was well located and description of the availability of transportation was also very good. The only difficulty I had in using the site was the payment option. I'm not sure if this was a malfunction of the site or a problem that I had with my paypal account. The ability to communicate with the host of the apartment was very good and led to a good relationship with the… Read Full Review

“A reliable and confortable experience”

Everything went well. This was the first time that i used wimdu, or even any kind of service like that. At the beggining i was a little afraid what to expect, if i will be fooled. But everything was better than i expected. I'll use again, for sure!… Read Full Review

“Good experience, Fair price”

Written on: 18/12/2012

This was our first time using Wimdu (we travel as a couple) so we called them to get more information regarding the reservation process, cancellation policy and validity the of the pictures posted on their website. They were always available and answered all our questions. The place where we stayed in NY was just as described, very nice and clean, and great for the price. I guess each host might be different, but we never had any issues communicating with Wimdu so our experience was good!… Read Full Review

“No worries once in”

Written on: 17/12/2012 by LynRob2012 (1 review written)

Through Wimdu we lived in comfortable, well-located apartments in Spain and the US. In each case it was easy to settle quickly into new cities because we could always access the internet and we could stay grounded through routine activities such as preparing our own breakfasts and washing clothes at home (Spain). Wimdu's website photos, maps and comments were a great help in choosing accommodation that suited us very well. Each place we stayed was in a fabulous location and had at least basic… Read Full Review

“Adopt me!”

Written on: 16/12/2012 by rose.dority (1 review written)

I loved this apartment in Paris. We stayed for a week and wish it had been for longer. Great apartment for 3 adults. Everything was quite new and tastefully decorated. The location was fantastic. Close to everything. We only took one metro the whole week as it was that easy to walk to all the sights. Heaps of local restaurants and bars as well as markets and all types of shops. Our hosts lived upstairs so it was convenient for any questions and the were lovely. WIMDU was a breeze to book with… Read Full Review

“Better than a hotel...anytime!”

Written on: 16/12/2012 by john.tey (1 review written)

I travel with a young family (wife, 3 year old and a baby), and therefore find fully furnished apartments a much better option when I'm abroad when compared to hotels. My experience with Wimdu so far has been great. More importantly, the support centre for Wimdu has been tremendous when I faced any problems. That for me, is the most important thing. No reservations in recommending Wimdu to others (in fact, I already had, many many times)… Read Full Review

“Windu rip off”

Written on: 04/12/2012

Looking to book a holiday apartment and came across Windu. Their website made it seem easy and cheap to book people's free/spare apartments in many cities around the world. Once you have spotted a place you like, you can contact the "hosts" of the property and get to know a little more about the place etc before booking on the website. So, I did that and of course you get to a point where you want to go through with the booking - encouragement from Windu all over the site. So, you click "book… Read Full Review

“very poor customer service”

Written on: 16/11/2012 by SC25 (1 review written)

We had booked through Wimdu and paid at the beginning of August with the instructions to contact our host when we had sorted travel arrangements. We started trying to contact our host via e mail at the beginning of October but got no response, we tried again towards the end of October again we were not graced with the curtosy of a reply, i contacted Wimdu who suggested i phone the host which i did (now only 4 weeks to our break)to be told "oh i have decided not to rent the apartment now as i… Read Full Review

“Do not ever book with Wimdu”

Written on: 14/11/2012

Wimdu is not a trustworthy company. Simply they are just stealing your money for very poor service and you cannot do anything about it. Do not give them your credit card details! It is not secure. - they charge you full price of accomodation BEFORE you even arrive - the accomodation was very dirty, smelly, the owner did not speak English - when we left after one night, we were charged for "Wimdu nonrefundable fees" for the whole stay, even if this was their blunder - they will try to catch you… Read Full Review

“On rue Saint Honore”

Written on: 29/10/2012

After spending two weeks in hotels we were happy to have a space of our own so conveniently situated. The apartment was comfortable, clean and supplied with everything we could want, including wi-fi which always worked, (not what could be said for the hotel wi-fi!) A book listing essential services was also provided - everything was thought of. We loved the open beams in the apartment and the quaint staircase leading up to it. The lady who owned the apartment was very friendly and… Read Full Review
