Since booking a tour with Virgin Holidays Ltd at one of their local retail centres, I have been less than impressed with the quality of customer service. In my latest encounter, I had difficulty in making a balance payment by cheque, as I object to the charge they would have levied for a credit card payment. I found the logic behind refusal incomprehensible as I was able to produce copies of paper work received which clearly stated that payment by cheque was acceptable. My argument that they had a duty of customer care to notify me of any changes to terms and conditions after date booking accepted solicited a response that it was not required by them to take this action. Eventually the clerk telephoned Head Office who readily gave agreement for payment to proceed by cheque. Since booking, I have had no less than three occasions where I have had to contact the Retail Centre to query aspects of my tour booking. This is the first, and well now be last time I book with Virgin Holidays.
