Trailfinders. Wish I had booked myself

Went into local shop. Received some helpful advice on itinerary but booking process very poor
All flights hotels car hire etc booked separately despite showing as self drive trips in the brochure.
Internal Australian flights booked before hotel availability confirmed. Some hotels not available so offered others at +£100 per night. If I cancelled then they would charge me the cost of the flights.
River cruise shown in brochure is another extra.
Now I find that my itinerary is one day short on car hire. Drop off is at airport when I should be booking in for last night in hotel 100 miles away.
All Australian bookings were through APT.
All staff very friendly and polite but the attention to detail is appalling and the additional charges are not acceptable.
I really do wish I had booked this myself. Would almost certainly have been cheaper and I would have made sure it was correct.
My advice is to plan plan plan before you do it yourself or walk into their shop.
