Perpignan's review of Titan Travel - www.titantravel.co.uk

“Not again”

★★★☆☆

written by Perpignan on 09/07/2013

Our holiday was the Oregon and Pacific Coast. Departing 17 June. Previous coach holidays to the US had been with Travelsphere and we shall be reverting to them in the future.
The coach was frankly sub standard. No backseat netting so anything you had was on the floor or had to jump up and down to small overhead lockers. Plus, only one door- the coaches we have travelled on with Travelshpher holidays have always had two.
We have no complaints about the Tour Manager and the Driver, indeed they were called upon to perform over and above their duties which brings me onto my main thrust.
I come from the school of thought that says that disabled people have just as much right to a holiday as anyone else. But, mainstream holidays are not always the right ones. We had a severely disabled gentleman on our tour. Things started badly at Seattle Airport when this gentleman got lost. We all waited in the coach outside for at least half an hour feeling tired and sweaty after a longish flight plus whatever journey people had had before that. We finally had to give up on the situation, and the bloke concerned took a taxi to the hotel.Next morning, clearly not having read his itinary he was eating breakfast and then had to be told we were going , him then having to throw stuff into his suitcase. From then on it was all downhill.he was pretty much immobile, only being able to shuffle a few inches forward at a time.Niether could he cope with steps or slopes by his own admission. On top of all this he had no control over his bodily functions- out of desperation Rob had been forced to give him the front seat right side on a permanent basis.Even then it was like an Army excercise to get him off and then back onto the coach, indeed many times he stayed on rather than attempt it. I don't think anyone wanted this seat anyway since he urinated on it about the third or fourth day in. At Crater Lake my husband witnessed this man doing his business all over the floor of the Gents in the Visitor Centre with staff having to come in with mop and bucket. We all had to wait outside the coach which was barred to us upon our return. Obviously he had had to return to the coach, retrieve his case and the driver, David was helping him to clean up in the toilet. I understand from others in the coa h that. This had had happened a couple of others times as well I also understand that he has a carer back in the UK and that he thought that the NHS would lay for his carer to go on holiday with him! Bizarre I know but there again seeing that they are, uniquely in the world, involved and paying in the translation business them I guess the holiday business might be seen as another branch of the NHS.
I am very sorry but Titan Tours should not take clients such as him. There are quite a few specialists who cater for the disabled and very good they are to judging from comments made to me by some of the.
