We were sold the holiday to Cuba by Thomas Cook saying that the door to door pick up was the start of a stress free holiday. Nothing of the sort! The car didn't arrive at 4.45am as we had been told. Many phone calls later a local taxi picked us up at 5.30am. On being picked up his sat nav indicated that we couldn't arrive in Gatwick before the latest checkin time !0.30am. The driver said "I will have a go" After a very hair raising journey he eventually got us to Gatwick a 9.46am. My wife and I were really shook up by the time we checked in and it certainly wasn't a stress free start to the holiday.
The tour manager provided us with a cheap bottle of white wine in Cuba as a gesture of goodwill for the event we had experienced. Despite letters to customer relations no compensation was forthcoming.
We had intended going to Borneo with Thomas Cook Escorted Tours in the autumn but after this experience we shall not. We have booked the holiday with another company and shall not be using Thomas Cook again and will defintely not recommend them to anyone else.
