We booked a holiday to Tenerife on-line through Olympic Holidays. All went well until we arrived at The Callao Garden Hotel in Callao Salvaje. We arrived at 1230 hrs by an Olympic arranged transfer taxi and on arrival at reception, the receptionist could not find our booking and when he eventually did he requested an "Accommodation Voucher". which we did not have as Olympic did not provide one to us. He then accepted a photocopy of our itinerary. After booking us in, he then informed us that we could not have our room until 4pm! The receptionist told us that no rooms are available until this time. This is something that Olympic must try to sort out with this hotel. It is very tiring after a 4 am start. And then to be told you have to wait a further 4 hours for your room is slightly galling. The receptionist then told us we could leave our luggage in the luggage room and that we should go to the pool snack bar for lunch and a drink, which we would have had to pay for as we were staying on a self-catering basis. After buying a drink we went to order lunch only to be told snacks were not available until after 2.30 pm! We eventually got our room at about 1545 hrs. The room itself was good, clean and spacious. As we did not know until we had completed our booking and got out tickets, that there was no Olympic representative at the resort, we expected at least an arrival pack or some information about the area or trips from Olympic. However, there was nothing. As this was our first visit to Tenerife, a little bit of local information from Olympic would have been helpful. Our two week holiday was a success and our return transfer went well, although we had to telephone two days before pick up to arrange our return transfer time.
