Second time we have been to Syros with Olympic from Gatwick. Last year we had to wait 6 hours in Mykonos for a ferry connection, so we thought that this year maybe we would be booked on an earlier ferry. We weren't. Once again we had a 6 hour wait in Mykonos for our ferry booked with Hellenic Lines at 8.45 pm. resulting in us not getting to our apartment until nearly 11pm.
Having spoken to many holiday makers in Syros, we learnt that if we had been taken straight down to the new port in Mykonos, there are 3/4 other ferry lines that sailed between 2.3o and 5 pm that we could have been booked on. Why therefore does Olympic insist on booking the 8.45pm ferry?
Also when booking we paid £210 in transfers for 3 people. We were taken to the old port without charge, but were then informed that in order to get our ferry we had to get our own taxi to the new port at a cost of 10 Euros. The apartment was lovely and the holiday fantastic, but Olympic need to get their act together regarding the ferry transfer. By the time we got to our apartment we had been up 22 hours. We could have travelled to Australia in that time!!!
