My wife and I have just returned from a lovely week in Crete.
It was booked via Olympic Holidays who put us on Thompson flights from and to Gatwick.
First the good things: The small family run hotel, Cretan Gardens in Anisarus, was very good indeed. They could not have made us more welcome and really made us feel special.
We went on trips to Knossos, Ag. Nikolaus, Heraklion and Hersonissos.
Public transport provided by the hotel bus, the taxis and the local bus network was also excellent.
Ditto the meals that we had out.
We were very impressed by the new Dreamliner aircraft used on both legs of the journey. We were even impressed by the extra pre-flight checks that are being carried out at the moment. This did, however, cause delays to both flights: about an hour going out and one and a half hours coming home.
I was disappointed that Olympic did not tell us from which terminal (North or South) the plane left Gatwick. We found that out for ourselves.
All airports are horrible places and the extortionate prices charged for water is a scandal. Thompson were also more interested in selling "duty free" goods than drinks on the plane. Not Olympic's fault but where else can you complain?
A really good holiday with an uncomfortable part at each end.
