I stayed at this resort in early-mid November. We had a standard room so cannot comment on the Aqua Suite/Lounge etc.
Service:
I'm going to start with the best and most outstanding thing about the hotel, the service! It really is second to none and there a few people in particular who gave a service which was even better than the fantastic norm. From the day time pool area, the bartender in the swim up pool, who were the pool waiters. They were fantastic and provided an excellent service each and every day, we particularly miss the fantastic surprise drinks.
From Varenna, a fantastic manager and lovely guy – thank you for our special desert. From the breakfast buffet, the happiest and kindest person who make the best smoothies EVER and finally an excellent PR / VIP Manager, thank you for checking in with us and for the special touches in our room. Thank you also for the invite to the wonderful chefs dinner – sublime.
Rooms:
The room itself is a standard room for what I'd expect from a 5* all inclusive. The bed was very comfortable and all the expected amenities are provided. I liked the aromatherapy smells (but I understand that this is a matter of taste)
The hotel, beach and pools:
The resort is very pretty with nice greenery and well-kept and clean ground. The beach was stunning, the san is so soft and white and the staff here do an excellent job of keeping the beach clean and dealing with any sea weed. The beach itself is also very wide which means there is ample space for the chairs and there is no cramped feeling.
I spent most of my time by the swim up pool as this was lively and fun. The bartender there (Manuel) is fantastic and is my favourite bar tender in the whole hotel. He made such lovely drinks and was great at surprising us. The service was also fantastic at this pool. They were both fantastic and worked extremely hard all day long. Even whilst working so hard they took time to chat and build a relationship with the guests.
Food/Restaurants:
Varenna – the Italian, we had one lunch and one dinner here. I loved the artichoke starter at dinner this was one of my favourite dishes in the whole hotel. The veal was also very good as was the pasta and salad options.
MB – The food here was good, I liked the fillet (was cooked well) and I enjoyed the prawns. In my opinion this was nice but not the best restaurant in the hotel
Siete breakfast buffet – Excellent choice and great service. Don't forget to get a smoothie from Marco
Siete Mexican dinner – I enjoyed what I had (the speciality beef)
Azur: this was my favourite restaurant. The lunch was fantastic (I recommend the salmon and fish tacos) and the dinner was also of high quality (the risotto and beef were great) and the view is also fab
Hidden Garden – hit or miss (Avoid the pad thai) but was mostly great
Sea Corner – lovely for lunch and excellent choices (all sea food) but very well done
Pool lunch service – really enjoyed the quesadillas and the grill food
Room Service - I ordered a burger at 4am – it was lovely.
Drinks: Good choice of alcohol and drinks. I never felt like the drinks were watered down and the choice was great. Manuel makes the best cocktails in the resort
