we stayed at the Red Lion in upper Poppleton just on the outskirts of York for two nights. the hosts were very welcoming and the food I can highly recommend. we were entertained while having our evening meal by a cool jazz band and the landlord, who was brilliant and a great voice too. breakfast was amazing and all locally sourced food.it really set us up for the day and well worth the price.
the rooms were comfortable and had all the facilities we required. the only down side of the whole stay was the traffic noise.
we would stay there again if we visited York. Hils
