Overnighter in Whitby

We chose Starfish and Discovery Accommodation because a 4* room double en-suite room was on offer for fifty pounds, which we thought was a bargain. We didn't realise until we had booked that our room would be in another building separate from reception and 5 a minute walk away, and that parking was limited and on a first come first served basis. The room itself was clean, warm and comfortable but very basic and definitely not 4*. The en-suite was a reasonable size, with towels provided and was again nice and clean. However, the strangest thing about our accommodation was that the entire room and en-suite were totally pine clad, pine shelf and desk,even the ceiling was pine panelled so it had a feeling of sleeping in a huge shed. We did actually sleep quite well though. Breakfast was at an extra cost of £6 and there was a choice of full English, which we enjoyed or continental, but it felt odd having to walk back to the main building to eat. Staff were generally pleasant and friendly but we will be unlikely to book this accommodation again.
