Days Inn, James Street, Liverpool offers friendly, efficient and helpful service from every member of staff; all the way through from pre-arrival enquiries right up to farewell. Excellent location just off The Strand - handy for the docks; museums, restaurants and Liverpool One. Taxi rank and cash points are just outside the door. Before I arrived I had been a bit concerned about noise, because it's at a busy road junction and above James Street railway station - but I never heard the traffic and never had moment of disturbed sleep. The hotel has no parking on site but arranges a discount at the nearby Q parking at Liverpool One.
The bedrooms have been carefully planned, making the best use of the spacious room and providing plenty of open storage and hanging space. Very comfortable bed, considerate lighting with additional reading lights. Everything was spotlessly clean and fresh. Small but perfectly formed en-suite shower room - with walk in shower where the controls are placed on the wall opposite the spray, so that you don't get wet turning it on, excellent attention to detail.
Spare pillows, ironing board and iron, tea/coffee making facilities.
Restaurant clean and functional; everything you could want in terms of a cold buffet breakfast; hot breakfast; bacon, sausanges, hash browns, beans, and mushrooms all perfectly cooked, hot and delicious. Only downside is that the only eggs on offer are scrambled and were a bit overcooked for my taste. I had to leave at 6:30 a.m. one morning on a business trip, which meant that I hadn't time to eat breakfast (breakfast service starts at 6:30 which is excellent!)so the restaurant manager kindly provided me with a wonderful take-out to eat on the train - could not have been more helpful.
Minor inconveniences are that there isn't a lounge area with comfortable seats to sit around and chat with friends, and while there is a left luggage facility if you arrive before 14:00 check in, or if you want to leave it after checkout - there's no numbered record of receipt identifying your personal cases,it's simply a left luggage room.
Even so, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying overnight in Liverpool; excellent value for money, great location, good food,spotlessly clean - really enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate in going back again.
