“Misleading Room Rate Advertising”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/02/2013

Booked a very last minute room in Las Vegas hotel as a present for my daughter who is travelling the world with a friend. As they are on the last few months they are running very low on cash so I bought and paid for a 3* hotel in Las Vegas for her instead of an off strip hostel. Lastminute.com was advertising on their website 20% off room prices and FREE breakfast! When the booking was completed there was no mention of breakfast being included the confirmation was ROOM ONLY. I emailed customer services immediately and after 12 hours received the response that breakfast was chargeable at $9 per person per day. I then phoned them and they asked me to provide proof that the website has indeed offered breakfast included. After sending screenshots of the webpage which I had saved, they made many excuses about not being able to open attached files, or, cannot read print as too small, they contact me to try to increase the zoom sos they could read their offer! Supposedly they are not able to confirm what offers they have placed on their website after the fact. This I cannot believe. The final telephone call came this evening stating that the offer is not FREE breakfast, but a $9 per person credit against breakfast in the hotel. This will be charged to her debit card at check in and refunded at the end of her stay. This is misleading advertising at the very least as there was no link to give the true explanation to their advertised room and free breakfast rate.
