We found on Groupon an offer from Stansted to Granada with flights, hotel and breakfast included for 3 days for £200. We called KPX to confirm the dates we wanted were available and if it was possible to change our return flight from the 29 to the 31 of March, before buying the Groupon. The guy said the dates were available and the cost of changing the flight was £45pp. He also insisted in getting the deal at the same price from him instead of buying a Groupon.
We decided to call him back the next day to check with the rest of the group and decided to buy the voucher as we trust Groupon.
After buying vouchers for 4 people we called KPX again. We had to wait an hour to be able to talk to someone, when we finally talk to the same guy as the day before he said the cost of the flight was now £55, because we bought the vouchers. He told us to cancel the vouchers and he was going to call us back. He decided not to cancel the vouchers, because it was too complicated to do so.
When the guy called, we just said we wanted to book our holiday. We email the codes for the vouchers and our names for the flights and over the phone gave him our credit card number to cover the extra. When we asked to confirm the amount he now was going to charge us £65pp! He said that it was our mistake and that the previous conversation was recorded and he never said £55. My husband, who had been dealing with him on the phone, finally agreed to pay it since his accent was so hard to understand and it was possible that what he said was true.
Then we moved on to the flights. He offered us to flight from Gatwick to Barcelona, stay the night there and get to Granada the next morning. This was getting ridiculous! We said NO! We bought the groupon because it was leaving from Stansted. The best offer he gave us was from Stansted to Malaga... fine we took it.
Then the hotel. He said the hotel we wanted (the one that was part of the deal) was fully booked and he could offer something better for £80pp. I asked him to wait because we wanted to see where the new hotels were. He kept pushing us into making a decision cause he had other customers waiting. I asked about the breakfasts and he was happy to give them to us for another £15pp.
That was more that enough, we bought a deal and he was not respecting any part of it. We asked him to cancel everything. One second later he hanged up.
This just happened yesterday and I'm very worried cause he had all our details and I don't want nasty surprises on our credit card.
We canceled the Groupon vouchers this morning without a problem, but they wouldn't take complains over the phone.
Unfortunately I don't have the name of the person I was dealing with, since his name wasn't even in the email he sent us.

Can I just say that you need to write to ABTA to excalate this and I understand that Groupon are refunding your origional amount to you. They are part of the ABTA regulation so cannot take money from you without permission. THis is illegal along with getting fined from ABTA for this so I don't think they would do this. We had a bad experience but not as bad as this. As there telephone conversations are recorded send a Suject Access Request for £10 and they need to supply this within 40 days otherwise you can get the Information Commission (Freedom of Information Act) to enforce it without any cost to you or you needing to go to court. This would provide you with enough information to take them to a small claims court for the extra money you paid. There si no doubt you would get this back. Also excalate the complaint to the freedom travel group.
