We booked a cruise through the daily mail travel in October 2013.
The cruise which included 2 nights in Rome was for 23/07/14 , we had not received our travel documents by the beginning of July , so I had to phone a couple of times. We received the documents on 14/07/14 a week before we were going on out holiday. At this stage my husband and I were already in different countries, and communication wasn't easy. However when my husband read the documents , our travel home after our cruise didn't make sense.
We were to be picked up from the cruise ship at 6 am, for. 40 minute transfer to Rome airport , for a flight to LHR at 21:15, over 13 hours to wait at the airport. My husband thought there had been a mistake, as asked me to phone Jetline. I did , and was advised well you have to be at the airport 3 hrs before you fly, I replied 3 not 13, she then said well people like to spend time at the airport. This women clearly had attitude , and was rude.
The cruise was amazing ( celebrity ) , but the 13 hr at the airport continued to be at the back of our minds, so we tried again to ask if we could change our flights. I had checked with the airline, and there were flights available. We even offered to pay half the cost , but were told there was nothing they can do, we knew our itinerary when we booked, which we did not. We did know our flight times, but as we had not been on a cruise before we assumed we were docking at the end of the day.
We requested to speak with the manager, who turned out to be the women I had spoken to before, and was again rude.
We had an amazing cruise, we would defiantly cruise again with celebrity , but never again use jetline. How I wished I'd read some of the reviews before booking.
Had we spent 13 hrs at the airport , the tubes would have stopped running by the time we got to London, and a taxi would have been £85+. We decided to book new flights at a cost to us, but arrived in London at a reasonable time, used the tube, and enjoyed a evening in covent garden.
What I ask myself is why why why would anyone who calls themselves a travel agent book travel times giving someone 13 hours wait at a airport ! ( we had to then travel to Australia ) totally unacceptable
