Me and my Boyfriend decided to book for Cyprus in April this year. We saw a 5 star hotel on Jet2Jolidays website for £825 each B&B, which we thought was good since it was a 5 star hotel. WRONG! on the website it claims THE VENUS BEACH HOTEL is a friendly, modern hotel with a private beach. I recieved an email a couple of days ago saying while we are staying there the road outside will be getting torn up for drainage systems, SEWRAGE IN THAT HEAT FROM 0700 to 1600 EVERY DAY? I swiftly went on to trip advisor to see if this was mentioned by any other customers, and was shocked. the beach which is supposed to be "one of the best in Cyprus" is actually red flagged and a guest died last week in it as well as multiple rescues being carried out by the lifeguard every week! Needless to say I phoned up to complain and get moved, I was told after a long wait that there was nothing they could do as the work was outside the hotel and as for the beach problem the hotel had a life guard and so nothing could be done free for me. I was told to go and LOOK MYSELF at alternatives. I then called back with a couple and was quoted up to £545 extra which could not be negotiated on. I have ended up going to the Avanti Hotel which gets great reviews but with an extra £112.40 for my and my partner. The customer service has been shocking, only 1 girl on the phone was helpful, the other 3 calls I made they were all abrubt, matter of fact and frankly didn't care. Never again will I book with them, I'll go back to Virgin Holidays every time!
