Having not been to Tuscany for 6 years (we were put off by an opposing villa company changing our villa last minute to one high up in a mountainous region of Montecatini where it was chilly even in August), we approached Pisa with trepidation, as the memory of the 2 hour queues for car hire still lingered. However there is now a terminal devoted to car hiring, and although there is an air of chaos, it is a definite improvement! Our directions to the villa in Pievescola were sadly lacking, but we were greeted so warmly by the villa owners, Sergio and Gigliola, who provided us with an impromptu superb lunch and bottle of chilled Prosecco,so the journey was soon forgotten.
The villa was much better than we expected, beautifully furnished and so well equipped, there were many homely extras, including toothbrushes and a hairdryer. We had prepaid for a welcome pack which was superb, everything we needed to keep us going for a few days, Gigliola also included a huge bowl of her homemade pasta sauce.....delicious.
We had a wonderful holiday in the villa, venturing out occasionally, but generally enjoying the beautiful location and weather, and being entertained by the elderly Italian gent in the neighbouring house having a conversation with his pet goose. You need to be an animal lover at this villa as there are several (very friendly) dogs and cats who roam about freely
