The apartent met our needs. It was great, clean, very close to the subway station of the A line. If you like night life, this is the place for you. There is a night club in the same street as the apartment. The apartmentis clean, big, and the owner let us come 2 hours before check in time. I wanted to stay in apartments in the cities I was visiting because I wanted to experience more of what it would be like to live in the cities. That was certainly fulfilled. At the same time, I was concerned about making contact with the hosts and the possibility of having to function in either Italian or French on the trip. That was not a problem. We've booked three rentals with Housetrip in Germany, Austria and France. All have been as described and the entire transaction process easy to deal with. We really liked the apartment we book through Housetrip but the communications with hosts "before booking" were just too much difficult. The navigation of the site is cool and is very easy to search for the right accommodation but is just a pain to get in touch with a host before booking, it feels like you have to make a commitment with your host before contact her. It seemed a bit odd that the reservation and payment process involved Housetrip but then they said "OK, now contact the owner for arrival arrangements, etc.". About one appartment, we weren't very satisfied (not clean enough), but apparently, HouseTrip follows up the reviews, because we got a voucher to get discount on our next stay (very cleaver of them :). I've used several different rental house websites, and I think housetrip has the easiest search features. I like being able to see a variety of things -- filtered in various ways -- on a map. The only thing I didn't like much was that I couldn't see availability on the website. I understand that sometimes bookings happen before the website can be updated, but several of the properties that I found were shown as "available" for a long time, when in fact they were not available. I was a little anxious when we were asked to give our passport numbers to the host and contacted about whether or not to give out that information. We were met by a really lovely girl who showed us the appartment and where the pool, sea and shops were. Ideally situated for everything. Our DVD wouldn't work the second evening we were there and within half an hour someone was there to look at it. It was broken, but 45 minutes later we had a brand new one up and running! Once the booking of the property has been accepted it is easy to communicate with host through their messaging system. They protect both the guest and the host. Using Housetrip worked out well for myself and the two others with whom I shared the apartment. It was a lot cheaper than renting two rooms at a hotel in May in Prague because all the prices go up after April! Finding the place and getting confirmation of a booking can take A day or so which means it isn't something you can leave till the last minute. Thank you very much for the kind words. It's great to hear that you had a good time in your apartment and that you found the site easy to navigate. We've spent a lot of time getting it this cool!
The only thing you need to do to be able to contact a Host is send them a no-obligation Availability Enquiry. This lets the Host know that you are interested in their property, and you can then send them a message by visiting the Enquiry in your HouseTrip inbox.
No request for payment is sent to you until the Host confirms their availability. Even then though, you can still carry on messaging each other without paying anything.
I'm sorry that the messaging took away from your enjoyment of our service. Please keep in mind however that having communication occur through the HouseTrip system is the best way to protect our Guests and Hosts from scam bookings.
However we are always happy to hear constructive criticism, so again, thanks for letting us know which parts of the user experience you found lacking. Every piece of feedback makes us better.
