We got this apartment through House Trip and although the booking went smooth we got a bit confused with the various emails we received. They were somehow related but it felt confusing (this was our 1st time we booked with them and that could also have been the reason).
My advice would be that the "offer" for transportation from the Airport to the "key-pick up point" should be advertised from the start of the booking and with the remark (when you pay the cleaning fee, you pay also the taxi BEFORE you get the key...And that would solve a lot of problems - is our opinion)
The advertisement for the apartment was spot on and we would like to thank House Trip for all their help and support after the SANDY disaster.
About the apartment:
I would have loved to keep this gem hidden from everybody but that would be unfair to the Owner of this very well located, very well maintained and very nicely decorated apartment, which we came to respect as our own. The place felt spacious and was very modern (exactly what we are used too). The first night I had to switch on one of the “Tolomeo” lamps next to the bed and look around the bedroom in order to confirm I was not dreaming after I had been staring out the window towards the Chrysler Building.
We stayed with a family of 6 people (2 adults and 4 teenagers) in the apartment. We used the inflatable bed as our 4th bed.
Plenty of towels and sheets were provided; the place was VERY clean and the necessary washing products for dishwasher and washing machine were provided (we bought more, since we washed more, at the very nearby located supermarkets).
Both bathrooms had great “Raindance” showers and body sprayers with good water pressure.
The four (4) TV’s worked perfectly and the one in the living room had more than enough channels to choose from (although “The Big Bang Theory” was flavour of the week :-D )
Nice tableware was available and all of the household equipment was in good working condition. The air-conditioning kept us cool during the hot days this week.
Just to give some remarks to counter all the positive comments about this place and to make our review plausible. Unfortunately we could not get the Internet to work (?Was it the code?, since there was signal!) but we were there to visit the City in the week of the 4th of July 2013 not to read about it on the Internet.
And we could not get onto the terrace (the handle was loose and the door bolted) and we did not dare to go on via the fire escape (afraid we might set-off some alarms).
We really felt at home in this place; we loved it and we like to thank the Owner for allowing us (a group of 6) to stay here.
We will be back…if it ever comes available again for us on the market, since this place deserves to be booked 365 days of the year!
