“Hotel did not have our booking”

We booked very early to avoid any problems, but after a seven-hour drive, the hotel did not have our booking even though I had the email confirmation in my hand. The other hotels in the town were all full and we had to stay miles away in a more expensive hotel.

Both hotel.info and the hotel blamed each other, so we have received no compensation whatsoever. I will book directly with the hotel in future because these websites will take no responsibility if anything goes wrong and you're stuck with nowhere to stay and have to pay extra.
