Avoid holidaycottages.co.uk at all costs

I rented The Granary, Lower Wyke Farm in Axminster for 1 week. The Holiday Cottages description did not mention that the property was located 50m from the very busy and noisy A35 trunk road. Nor did it say it was on an industrial estate with a marine engineers 20m away revving engines at 8am. Nor did it say the property had no front or back garden attached. The 'shared garden' was 70m away in the corner of a field with an old yellow excavator as the main view.

Just to add to the cacophony the owner was, for most of the week, excavating more parking spaces just 30m from the property for the additional office units that he was letting out next door. Maybe this should have been done in the closed season but they prefer to spend 6 months in the Canary Islands over winter. Apparently!

Beware! The location shown on the holidaycottages.co.uk map was not correct (the shown location actually points to Wyke Farm down the road, do not confuse the two) so what we thought was going to be a wonderfully peaceful location was in fact an industrial estate on the side of a busy road. The owners are lovely people but seem oblivious to the fact that you cannot mix holiday rental property with industrial and commercial property. They want their cake and they want to eat it.

I complained to the Holidaycottages but after 3 weeks I have not heard anything from them. I will not use this company again as they were not honest with their description of the property and I certainly advise against booking any property on Lower Wyke Farm, unless of course, you think you may enjoy spending your vacation on an industrial estate.
