“Ischia ten day holiday”

We booked a ten day holiday with Fleetway at the Hotel Aragona in Ischia and travelled between 5-15 July.

The travel arrangements were seamless, we arrived at Gatwick and travelled to Naples, where we were met and escorted to our taxi which took us to the port. The taxi driver gave us our tickets, ensured we boarded the right ferry and after a journey of approximately an hour, we arrived at Ischia Port where we were met by a further taxi and driven to the hotel. This system worked equally well in reverse and we arrived at Naples airport with time to spare. So if you book with Fleetway don't have any concerns about the transfers, they were very well organised.

Hotel Aragona overlooks the small port of Ischia and the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly and English speaking. The rooms were airconditioned and spotless with bedding changed every other day, as many towels as you needed that you could use around the pool and thick towelling robes. Only slight issue was we didn't manage to find any English speaking channels on the TV but we were hardly in the room other than to change and sleep so that wasn't an issue for us.

Food was very good, although as a personal preference I would have liked more hot pasta dishes on the evening menu rather than the daily risotto, although they were very varied. And you only had to ask for something and the chef provided - many of the meals were converted to vegetarian for me quite easily.

Pool area on the roof was small and delightful with a view of Vesuvius in one direction, the port and the rest of the island in the other. Sun loungers and parasols were fairly plentiful. Poolside service was provided, just dial the number and a staff member arrived to serve drinks etc. There were also higher level terraces provided with sun loungers and umbrellas but they did look slightly neglected but would probably be used during high season.

Only slight disadvantage was the cooking extractor vent from a restaurant which was nearby, and usually just gave off a smell of woodsmoke, but occasionally a rather unpleasant and noxious plastic smell which was unfortunate but not the fault of the hotel.

We had a lovely ten days and generally spent it lounging around because of the wonderful weather, it was in the low 30s and having previously visited many of the nearby sights such as Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi etc we didn't travel far as it was so hot and it was very comfortable around the pool, beach and town itself.
