Excellent trip but insufficient information beforehand

Both hotels had all the facilities we needed though a swimming pool would have been a real bonus and a hot tub. However, the hotel in Oslo was somewhat quirky with insufficient lighting. The rooftop terrace was particularly good and the free tea and coffee were great. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice in both hotels.
As regards the trips on the second destination Longyearbyen it was disappointing that we had not been prepared for the fact that the boat trip was a rib boat - we are in our late sixties and only just about managed to get on and off with help. We were also not told we needed driving licences for the ATV ride. We had assumed this was with other people in a large vehicle not on quad bikes. Fortunately we had been forewarned by pieces on Travel Advisor. Some people our age would not have been able to manage those excursions and it should have been made clear in the advertising on secret escapes what was entailed.
The staff at the hotels and on the excursions were very helpful and reassuring.
The whole trip was wonderful - both destinations exceptional but more information about the trips and the necessity of taking a driving licence should be provided before booking. It was also disappointing not to see any wildlife apart from birds - we expected seals, walruses and even polar bears which were found to be quite rare experiences according to the guides.
