Great value holiday in stunning locations

My wife and I have just come back from a 2 week holiday to Vietnam and Cambodia. We were picked up at all the airports (4 in all) by a private taxi and driven to our hotels. The drivers were always waiting for us on our arrival and were very courteous.

The hotels at all locations were amazing and the staff could not do enough for you.

Hanoi was a different world, the smells and noise of a busy city. There were scooters everywhere and the city had a real buzz about it.

The arranged cruise around Halong Bay was superb, the boat was great and the food amazing. The cruise also included trips to the caves, swimming off one of the islands and time kayaking around some of the islands which was lovely.

Hoi An was a lovely little town with lots of charm and our next hotel was a 15 minute drive away by free shuttle bus. The hotel was the best we have ever stayed in. The rooms were large and airy, the meals were fabulous and the staff exemplary.

The Angkor complex was fantastic and so large. You could have stayed here a week and not seen it all. If you visit the complex you can get a ticket the night before you intend to visit and use it that night to see the sunset from Phnom Bakheng and then the full next day. I recommend using the Tuk Tuk's rather than a car to take you around as they are much more fun and half the price.

Our final destination was Ho Chi Minh (Saigon in old money). This was another very busy city but had a much more modern feel about it. If you get chance I would recommend going up the Bitexco Financial Tower. The best and cheapest way to see it is to go into the shopping centre at the base and go up to the Bar on the 52nd floor. There is no charge for this and all you need to do is buy a drink. We went just before sunset so watched it go dark and all the city lights come on.

One trip that we went on from here but would not really recommend was the Mekong Delta tour. It was a very long journey and the part of the Mekong that you see is pretty grotty.
