Fantastic Iceland Trip

Just returned from a wonderful visit to Iceland. Hotel Bjork was lovely - clean, comfortable, with very helpful staff. Enjoyed a great Glacier Walk combined with a trip out into the wilds to see the Northern Lights (you need to be fairly fit to walk on the glacier although the guide and the provision of crampons were a great help). Wouldn't have missed it for the world - even got to go through an ice cave! The Golden Circle Tour was also worth doing although a little touristy, and although we didn't visit the Blue Lagoon, we did visit the Laugardalur Swimming Pool, which is used by the locals and which was much cheaper and offered numerous absolutely fantastic hot pools, with temperatures up to 42 degrees. Food, drink and gifts are very expensive in Iceland, but we had a superb meal which was reasonably priced at Forrettabarrin down by the harbour. The National Museum of Iceland is also an interesting place to visit, detailing the history of this fascinating country. Be prepared for every kind of weather - snow, rain, sleet, wind and beautiful sunshine!
