Dear Customer,

We wish to inform you that Fareboom neither changed your travel dates nor stole your money as you falsely state in your review. Unfortunately, your reservation was subject to an airline schedule change that occurred about 45 days after you purchased your ticket. As a travel agent Fareboom has no control over airline mandated schedule changes, and this makes us no different from any other online or offline agency.

We filed for your full refund with the airline on November 6 and the refund was processed on December 15 due to an airline delay. The money has been returned to your original credit card.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the airline schedule change, however such events are sometimes unavoidable due to airline rescheduling decisions.

At Fareboom we investigated the matter by working with your card issuing bank and determined that the delay was caused by the fact that you closed the credit card account that you used to make the original purchase. In such case the money cannot post automatically to the closed account. We talked to your bank and asked them to ensure that the pending refund is either released to your new account or you are issued a check. In case you did not receive the refund please talk to your card issuing bank or contact our refunds department for further assistance in working with your bank. My partner booked a recent flight from LAX to Sydney via Fareboom. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen customs services delays at the airport, he missed his flight with Delta. Booking with FareBoom was a bit of a pain, but once I was all booked, I was happy. I had to jump through some hoops to confirm I was authorizing my credit card transaction (seems like to a guard against fraud), but I was trying to book quickly at work so it was inconvenient. “Fareboom is a huge waste of time!”

I have never had such a horrible experience with ANY travel agency then with this one. Book a $1,000 last minute flight with confirmation and insurance only to find my reservation canceled right before I departed. One email sent to a business email with a vague heading and 1 supposed phone call with a voicemail of which I have yet to hear. Absolutely zero action was taken to rectify the issue. I purchased a ticket to the Philippines and I need to change my date because of the severe flooding they just had. The first time I called the lady said I would have to pay the difference for the price of the ticket today but that there is also a $400 penalty I have to pay the airline and I could pay it on the day I arrive for my flight. Dear Customer,

There appears to be significant confusion as to what are the limits of Fareboom ability to change your return date at minimum cost. The purchased airline ticket is subject to airline industry standard change fees that are not imposed by Fareboom, but by the airline. You are indeed required to pay the change fee and fare difference in full at the time we reissue your ticket and this is a standard airline requirement. Fareboom makes no money in the process.

Your total change fees are as follows: 400 USD airline penalty and 70 USD fare difference. Your statement regarding a 900 USD fee is invalid, and this amount was certainly not communicated to you by any Fareboom agent.

Since you purchased travel insurance you could be eligible for a change fee reimbursement due to inclement weather that was apparently the reason for your inability to board the flight on the original date. Simply contact Travel Guard, give them your insurance policy number and explain the situation.

Finally, your statement that Fareboom will “rip you off and lie to you” is lacking in good taste and it has no basis, especially since you were advised of your options in full at all times. It is somewhat difficult for our agents to work with individuals who expect us to circumvent airline imposed rules for personal financial gain, and additionally use abusive language in the process.

We hope that you are able to work with Travel Guard insurance to reimburse the necessary change fees and wish you a safe return flight.

To say that I was a nightmare is an understatement, I purchased tickets in April for travel in July to Israel. Dear Customer,

We analyzed the circumstances of your case and have established the following facts:
- On February 1 you made a reservation on www.bt-store.com for 3 round trip tickets from Denver to Tel Aviv with a stop in Madrid, departing on Jun 9 and returning on July 16, 2013.
- On February 3 you informed us that you booked an invalid return date and that you wanted it changed from July 16 to July 10.
- We cancelled your original itinerary for free and created a new itinerary with the July 16 return date per your request. We notified you in writing that your original itinerary was cancelled and that we needed your written authorization in order to process the new itinerary, since this required a new credit card charge. An email titled “Please reply: BTS Alternate Flight Itinerary” was duly emailed to you on February 3 at 10.35 am PST.
- We did not hear back from you until May 29 when you notified us by phone that you in fact needed the offered alternative flights. At that time the itinerary had long been cancelled by the airline due to lack of your necessary reply to the aforementioned email titled “Please reply: BTS Alternate Flight Itinerary”.
- We offered you a similar itinerary as the previously suggested alternative, however at a substantially higher fare, since the February special fare was no longer available. The new fare costs about $700 per person more that the originally purchased fare.
- We also worked with you to search for alternative travel dates for maximum savings, but unfortunately we could no longer match the originally purchased fare.

Based on the above facts we find that there was no significant wrongdoing on the side of Best Travel Store at any time. Our agents are instructed to act strictly in accordance with written customer authorizations when processing itinerary changes.

Your request for additional compensation, in excess of the already offered $350 cannot be granted. There is no legal or moral basis for such compensation since we acted in accordance with your written instructions when we cancelled your originally purchased itinerary and sent you the provisional offer for the alternate itinerary. We cannot be held responsible or financially liable for your failure to respond to the email titled “Please reply: BTS Alternate Flight Itinerary”, since we assumed that you had abandoned the offered reservation, as you had already abandoned the original booking.

We are happy to assist you with suggesting alternate travel dates, outside the summer peak season, when we may be able to find significantly lower fares for your trip. You also continue to have the option of cancelling your husband’s ticket at no cost to you, since we will pay the $350 cancellation penalty.

This was similar to my experience. They never booked my flight after I followed all instructions on their website. I followed up with my credit card company to ask if they were rejecting the charge or something and the credit card company said that they were never approached with a charge. Then when I went back to Fareboom (all calls to Fareboom meant at least a half hour wait on hold) they assured me that my tickets would be issued. I waited another day. Nothing. Went back to Fareboom and they said that my tickets would be issued within 2-3 hours. Three hours later, nothing. Went back to Fareboom and they said the tickets were issued. I checked with the airlines and they didn't have my reservation. Went back to Fareboom and they said that they had. Went back to the airlines, and finally my reservation showed up. It was over a $3000 fare but not worth everything I went through just days before I was to leave.

We regret the negative review posted for an unknown route and by an unknown user, purportedly seeking to advertise our competitor that is typically significantly more expensive than us. We would be more than happy to investigate the fare change incident to determine its root cause if given a chance.
We search aggressively millions of fares and hundreds of airlines and this may result in a very small margin of misquotations from time to time. Each itinerary is pre-checked for fare accuracy before the actual customer booking to ensure that customers see the up-to-date price before submitting their passenger and payment information. In other words once you book with us your discount fare is accurate and secured, contrary to what others are reporting about the mentioned website.

We would like to review the problematic itinerary in order to address the problem as quickly as possible. We seek to serve to our customers accurate fares at all times, while we acknowledge that due to so-called data caching prices may change at itinerary selection time (and before booking) under rare circumstances. We continuously work to address these issues with consumer reporting assistance.
