I was recommended Expedia.com and made a round trip reservation through Expedia.com of about $1400. I had to reschedule the return flight and the fees for the rescheduling of the return flight was $75.
It turned out that Expedia charged an amount of $3000 to my credit card.
This was a card I rarely used when I am in in my home country. By chance I happened to check the transactions on this card and came to know about the faulty charge.
I had to speak to several call centers of Expedia in different parts of the world to convince them of the mistake. This took almost 4-5 work days of mine.
Finally they admitted that it was some software error which made them bill me in excess of almost 3000 USD and that this has happened to several other customers as well.
It is really surprising that they have such errors in production software. I was reimbursed for the excess amount after more than a month.
I was merely compensated by a $100 hotel voucher for the trouble. I had told them that there may not be a chance of me to use the voucher and that I would rather prefer a travel credit. I did not use the hotel voucher for 1 year. I asked them to extend the validity of the voucher for another year and the girl at the call center told me that she does not have the provision to do that.
I have never booked my tickets with Expedia again. I really do not have so much time to put into such issues.
