Booked a flight with Expedia from UK to Vietnam via Amsterdam and Guangzhou with China Southern Airlines. Had a good choice of airlines and prices from the original request.
Received an email a couple of weeks after the booking saying China Southern had changed time of one part of the flight by over 12 hours so I phoned and was told they would contact the airline for alternative options. I decided to wait to see if aternative flight options would be available. After having waiting one week and heard nothing I decided to cancel the entire booking and booked again with another airline.
I was advised that it takes between 2 and 12 weeks for the refund. I have now been waiting 8 weeks with the second flight booking on my credit card - having now paid 2 months of Credit Card interest on it. Phoned multiple times but they keep saying just wait another week I'm sure it will be refunded soon. Absolute nightmare. There must be a law against this isnt there?

i'm the one who wrote, booked one day, no flights the next.
couldn't get anywhere with Expedia, i rang China Southern direct uk office. phone picked up and spoke to a lady straight away, told her my concerns, she put me on hold, 2 mins later she was back to say, yes it was booked then cancelled next day, we refunded Expedia your costs on 25/05/12, if you don't receive your refund in 7 days ring me back and i will speak to them, might be getting somewhere ...
