“PONZI scheme BEWARE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Readhousedummy on 16/06/2014

The one star rating given to Cruisemiles is ONE STAR TOO MANY! Let's be VERY CLEAR: THIS IS A PONZI SCHEME. Money is taken from many to provide a service to a few while the balance of the money is siphoned off, never to be seen again; leaving the majority of customers without the service. The director of this company (who calls himself a "Lord" of the British Realm) is under investigation globally for fraud. He has financial connections to three British Pubs/Restaurants and aligns himself with notable chefs and so called socialites (all questionable). At the same time he DOES NOT PAY THE STAFF OF HIS CORE BUSINESS. He DOES NOT HONOR HIS CONTRACTS using the excuse that he has no money yet he is still operating the three pubs/restaurants. The business has little or no customer service. Please heed this warning and review other consumer complaint sites before making any decisions to give this business any money or goods.

“Lost money, time and treated like nuisance”

written by on 07/05/2014

Having been on one cruise with Cruisemiles which was excellent, I have spent a couple of years trying to find a cruise using my remaining cruisemiles. However it is now necessary to buy so many more to 'top up' what used to be ample points. I have 'won' several top up auctions but for some reason (maybe because I am in Australia) I never get told how to pay for them. For months no-one at Cruisemiles answered my emails, my posted questions only other disgruntled members. Eventually I got a reply from someone telling me my problem had been solved and to go to a link on their site which would answer my problems. It just sent me back to the Help page. Now my cruisemile points won't even cover a day trip from Sydney and it is impossible to 'win' any more so I have lost lots of money which this pensioner could not afford.

I too paid for the then Diamond and Rainbow Vouchers. We had a 7 day Tassie Cruise with the Diamonds and then added to these with the Miles when they came in. I count myself as fortunate because we did the trip of a lifetime to Canada, cruising to Alaska, then on to Hawaii and back to Sydney in September/October, 2012. When we got back I bought more miles - only now they were getting very pricey. Booked a 17 night NZ - Aus cruise on Celebrity Solstice for February, 2014. Well we all know what happened next. Cruises were cancelled right, left and centre. Friends, I had recommended Cruisemiles to, lost 2 cruises and airfares/accommodation in Hawaii. Boy did I feel bad!!
At present you can't even get in touch with them. Forum isn't working, you can submit questions and I fear for the 5.5million miles/points I hold which cost a fair few dollars. I did write to him via his restaurant, and had a pathetic reply for him saying I should be grateful that I had cruises. Well.. yes... but.... NO... you have my money your complete a--e.

I brought 3 cruises on Cruise Vouchers (now Cruise Miles) on Trade Me NZ & am not aloowed any of them as they are worthless & now the ponzie is still doing the same to others thru Cruise Miles, he should be jailed but he has put money into a new restaurant (not in his name of course) but 3 quess's where the money has come from. I brought 1 cruise for my sons 40th & he ended up with nothing & the others to go and visit my fathers grave ( won't be happening now) & he & his agents that are selling on E-Bay & Trademe and having the money paid direct to them are getting away scot free as well. This is a definite Ponzie scheme

We purchased several vouchers through Trademe NZ, & Cruise Miles agent in New Plymouth. However they have nearly all expired now as there were no cruises that suited us or that fitted in with the vouchers - we had heaps of voucher $, but the lack of cruises available or those that were, were sold out so they say. I don't hold any hope of getting money back from this business. I just learned the lesson that the saying is true. - `If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' I am happy to support the Police Investigation.

Fellow Cruise Mile members
First I would encourage everyone to sign into their cruise miles account, go the my account section and print their membership information, as well as the history. If the site goes down you may not have another chance to capture this information.

Please pass this message to all your friends and family that joined cruise miles. Let's join together and let the police decide if this was a " buer beware" issue, or a criminal matter. I personally want to know if this was a Ponzi style scheme, a miss representation of consumer product, or simply wishful thinking. Where was my money used and why is it gone?

Watch out for contact details for the Police Investigation

Absolute rubbish business. Not even a business. I think they are laughing at us as their bank accounts increase. No refunds , no comeback, this is not legal. May they rot in hell. Have booked a cruise in April 2014 from Melbourne to Sydney, have paid our hard earned cash, now hear the cruise is cancelled. Not an e mail from CM, no word, nothing. I now hear CM do not refund cash. Thanks very much. I suggest with all the cash you have got you enroll in Ethics Classes and then maybe a Business Course.

This is the response I got from the "Director of group reservations". Do you think this is professional and polite?? Do you think this is the way to treat a customer? ***As I am sure you are aware our business is in extreme financial difficulty You were one of the lucky people who got your tickets and went on a cruise So all people see you as is selfish in the extreme that you keep complaining about a cruise you did not like when hundreds of others would have loved to have been on it We completed your booking and booked a room if carnival did not meet your expectations it is totally beyond our control Now please stop wasting our time when it is much better used trying to help people with real problems Best wishes Director of Group Reservations CrusiseMilesLogo01*** I do not!! I think this is the worst customer service I have ever had in my entire life. All because Cruisemiles screwed up on my cruise booking I purchased in 6/14/12 and they booked on 9/7 to sail 9/8/13. TERRIBLE!!! I only wanted a friendly response from 15 emails I sent since 8/16 on the cruise I was to be sailing on. I am going to spread the word that this is definately a reason why you are loosing money and having financial difficulty as you state, yet I was not aware of this at all. Are any other members aware of this ??? Has anyone else been spoken to this way??? WOW! shocking !!

Hi there... It seems I am not the only one having mayor fraud issues with CM. My husband and I purchased a 9 night Australia on Radiance Of The Seas with CM in which is set to sail on 01/12/2013. After purchasing the cruise, CM sent a couple of emails confirming the purchase and etc. In one of those emails, CM stated that the next time they contact will be for the Roll Check. CM stated the final Roll Check email will be sent 8-12 weeks prior to the cruise. It is now 6 weeks prior to the cruise and still I have not heard from them. I have sent countless emails (25-30) to CM over the past 3 weeks. I email every single email address CM have provided and sent in the past. However each of these emails seems to bounce back stating “email address does not exist”. Or the emails comes back as been “read” but no one is replying or answering my enquires. I also contact CM support directly off the website, back they said they cannot assist and will pass my enquires onto CM reservations. I am extremely angry and annoyed and looking into taking some legal action or etc. If anyone is experiencing the same problems as I... Please contact and let’s put our thinking cap on and put a stop to company like CM. Chloe - Australia

“STAY AWAY!!”

written by Disappointed628 on 03/10/2013

My husband and I planned our cruise a year and a half ago and have been looking forward to going since that time. Neither one of us has ever been on a cruise and this was going to be our honeymoon as we just got married in June. We were going to Bermuda from 10/27/13 to 11/4/13 and leaving from Hoboken, NJ. My husband's cousin found us this "deal" for only $550 for the two of us and he took care of the bidding and all that since he had an account on this site. Over the weekend we got the very disappointing news that our cruise was canceled. No explanation, no refund, nothing! My husband's cousin has been sending them emails to try to get some answers, but to no avail. We wish we would have done our research on this company before ever giving any money. It is beyond mind boggling how you cancel someone's vacation, that they paid for, without refunding the money. How does that happen and how do the get away with it? I reported this to the BBB, which of course this company is not a member (wish I knew that before giving away money)and I will be filing a complaint with the IC3 as well. This company has to be stopped, not just change their name and they start over, but stopped!! It is disappointing and heartbreaking when something you have waited for and worked for for 18 plus months is just taken from you without an explanation or an attempt at a resolution. Ethically, I do not know how the owners can live with themselves or show themselves in public to their families and friends knowing how they are ripping off and destroying the dreams of hard working people.

I purchased many cruise miles and finally "won" a cruise to Alaska, my dream cruise.Imagine when I was unable to contact the company 8 weeks from departure date, sent 10 or so emails, no reply. Stay away from this company. If you would like to start a class action against them, count me in. I didn't think companies could get away with this today, and still taking people's money. barry gazzard Australia.

Hi
You're definitely not alone. There are hundreds of people who have experienced the same thing. There are thousands and thousands of dollars lost and so many stories we can't tell fact from fiction, but one thing is definite - they're out of funds. If you wish to provide me with your E-mail I can provide you with more information but for the purposes of this blog I want to remain anonymous. I've seen an attempt to lodge a Class Action lawsuit by one member out of Australia but so far no idea where it stands. Without the $49 member fee they're now asking for, they may also go bankrupt.

I did get one cruise from this company in MArch, which went fine, but they they were slow to respond to special requests for adding a passenger,.. I am supposed to be on an Alaskan cruise Carnival Miracle September 10th/2013,and although I did the roll call which is required, and they sent an email confirming group booking, they have not sent me the booking # required to book into the cruise, I have been sending emails to their reservations department, filled out this special form to deal with this type of situation, and also contacted their support ... their support sent me a note stating to fill out this special form ,which I had already done, several times...they are not responding at all.. roll check was on August 14th/2013 I've sending emails and filling out forms every 2-3 days since then.. nothing..its only 5 days from the cruise, I had already paid for my airline ticket, and bought special clothes for this trip.. what a rip off.. “HORRIBLE!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Pumpkin31R on 02/09/2013

In February of 2012 I finally found a cruise with my Diamond Voucher that was converted into miles. The cruise was a year and a half away, Sept 16th, 2013. Mid August I booked my flight and hotel. My sister said I should be roll checking anytime now. I checked daily. Nothing. August 19th an email went to all CM announcing problems and what they were doing to correct them. I emailed them, posted to their forums and nothing. A week later they locked their forums so nobody could comment. A forum post stated my cruise was subject to cabin reductions and people would be notified. I checked my email and CM account every 30min waiting and waiting for news and NOTHING! A forum post came and said "Help is on the way' and they gave an email address for cruisers that had upcoming cruises. I emailed and waited for a response. Nothing. On Friday last week I opened my account and see that my miles had been placed back into my bank and my cruise status went from 'approved' to 'deleted'. The forum post stated all refunds had been done, miles back in accounts and final people were being ticketed. There I had it, NO CRUISE. Canceled. No email, no notice, nothing. Two weeks out and I have no cruise. I am out my airfare and my hotel. Sure, I can get a cabin through Carnival for $1,000 but why would I do that when I already paid 2 years ago?! I am so angry, disappointed, depressed and want to do something, but I don't know what. For now I am posting on every site I can find about my experience.

Same thing here--- and I ended up booking myself through the Carnival website. I, too, had trip deleted, air tix purchased, transportation from airport to hotel and then port to airport and accommodations in FL reserved- I would have been out more money by NOT going. I know it's really close to the date, but the balcony cabins are actually pretty reasonable- I pd $349 pp for a 9th level cabin ( $700 for two-- but was actually worth it compared to losing over $2000 by not going. I learned my lesson-- too good to be true...RUN. I truly hope they are held accountable and a class action law suit is filed.

I was lucky enough to get my cruise through CM. It was a miracle for sure. After numerous emails and no replies, I decided to roll check for the heck of it. Surprisingly they wrote me back and gave me a room! I was in the same situation, almost ready to just go through carnival but I just couldn't do it.
I'm glad we'll be cruising!

Were you one of the 50 that were ticketed? Supposedly they had limited cabins- 150 not ticketed. One note- I called a Carnival travel agent whom I have worked with in the past to just see if there were a block of rooms or any "group" booked back in May. Nope. Curious- how did you roll check if your cruise had been deleted and miles returned (this also happened to me this week)?

No, not one of the originals. My miles had been returned but nobody ever contacted me. The day I roll checked, it said 'closed' where the sailing date is, but I filled in all my info and chose 'yes, I will be sailing'. That night I got an email that they had 10 rooms left to give and they could give me an inside on deck 2. I replied 'yes!' I didn't care where I stayed, I already paid for it so I just wanted ON. Next day I got an emailed that they had some more open on deck 8 and they booked me and gave me my booking #. I was shocked! I feel horrible how this all went down and the people who can't go or were forced, like you, to buy full price. This whole thing was a big mess!

have had 3 cruise but now in last 12 months the company is going under. Ponzi schemes generally under the origin of self opinionated criminal minded individual think they can maintain popularity by feeding your money to others like a pack of cards. Now you will see a world cruise on offer on their site. many are buying miles and i guess this is the plan to try and generate some cash to keep this afloat. If you email about cruises you will rarely get a reply,. Many roll called are suggesting that tickets are not issued. the forum has been locked. i have 5 future cruises which i guess are down the pan. However if you win miles in current aiction and want payment info you will get an immediate reply. i tried it. will not be paying for the miles. Always thought this was too good to be true. luckily got some good cruises out first.

These people have developed an interesting business concept. They continue to sell what they call cruise miles which are supposed to be redeemable for cruises. They have sold millions and millions of miles. For a while they were able to redeem miles for under booked cruises and excess inventory but because they have sold so many miles and the miles have become so devalued they will soon be history. What happens to all the miles that have been sold ? You guessed it......worthless. Sounds like a Ponzi to me. If it sounds too good to be true. Well, you know the rest of the story. Oh, by the way, they continue to sell miles if you are interested. If you are I also have some swampland...........

“Cruise Miles review”

written by on 25/08/2013

I hope your experience with Cruise Miles continues to be positive when your turn arrive . I started purchasing their vouchers 3 to 4 years ago and has cruised once with them without any problems. I have spent about $3000 purchasing a few vouchers for myself and as gifts. However, this company converted the vouchers that I paid for into miles and keep inflating the miles that needed to purchase a cruise. The value of my vouchers have depreciated 90% since purchased and can book nothing with that amount now. This company has very limited inventories and is very hard to book. Two out of my booked cruise were deleted and the miles refunded are worthless. I did not book multiple cabins, and had a cruise cancelled without prior warning to me. There is absoluety no response to e-mails,desperate people who have not received confirmations and controls roll, and no explanation ,you sent e-mails your e-mails no response or unread by Cruisemiles , Miles worth 1/5 of what they were worth a year ago, you are not 100% have your cruise you have booked a year ago, since 8 monts nothing on offer , It's a shame that this time it was a good program, but unfortunately, became a Ponzi scheme, Something is really happening and it's a terrible way to treat customers. If you write too often, you get back an email saying that you will be banned, we only want the answer to our questions, I guess you probably received this email today with all the tales tristes.bla bla bla ,It's their plan .

Yes all is true .Have had the same experience myself .I booked a cruise 2 years ago and my cruise was on the Norwegian Epic with a balcony and I had extra miles over so kept buying more for another cruise. After many emails etc and no answers I finally had my cruise cancelled which is a couple of months before we were to sail.So as we live in New Zealand decided to book fares and got to Spain two weeks pr ior. no w we have had to buy a cruise to use our existing fares etc as they were non refundable. As you said I can't even buy a cruise let alone a balcony with my miles now . My advice don't buy ,looks like they are about to blow it.

“I purchased my cruise thru this company in April last...”

written by on 11/08/2013

I purchased my cruise thru this company in April last year to be taken this November but now it appears this company is no longer operates though they still have some cruises on offer on their website. No reply is received from them even though I have sent several requesting information. Luckily for me I did not book airfares or hotels but I am still out of pocket several thousand dollars as I not only have paid for this cruise but also have several hundred thousand of their worthless cruisemiles sitting in my account. I have sent a letter to Fair Trading UK which I encourage everyone to do so maybe they will be blacklisted.

I have similar issues as the previous reviewers. I started purchasing their vouchers 3 to 4 years ago and has cruised once with them without any problems. I have spent about $5000 purchasing a few vouchers for myself and as gifts. I purchased a NCL Epic 7 nights Mediterranean balcony cruise for July 2013 and totally paid for in January 2012, using the vouchers/miles purchased from them. They refunded the original miles ( which worths nothing now) and promised that I can cruise in an inside room for free. I have emailed them to ensure that I would be on this cruise prior to purchase airfare and hotel accommodation. After many emails and the help from my voucher agent, their representative finally sent an email to confirm that I was on the list. However, 2 weeks prior to sailing, they still have not sent me the confirmation number and NCL stated that no reservation can be found under my name. This company does not respond to emails and has no contact phone numbers. I ended up paying another company to purchase the same cruise since I already spent a fortune on non-refundable hotel and airfare and had vacation time arranged. After I sent them the bill, they emailed me saying that my cruise was deleted due to I have not completed a name change form. I have never changed any names and this company is so disorganized. I told them I will take legal action if they don't reimburse me. I do not recommend anyone using this company.

Hi, I have had the same problem, a cruise booked a year ago, dozens of emails sent asking questions, only to get a reply saying no rooms were available on the cruise last week. No reply to dozens of emails over the last year. I contacted the company who owns the cruise line, and they said cruisemiles at no time booked a room for the cruise they sold me.

I am from Australia, but have had advice on starting a class action, so if anyone out there is interested let me know. Lets not let them get away with this.

I am going thru this problem right now. I have had no reply to my emails and can get no help from support. They just pass the buck to reservations who never reply. Luckily I have not yet booked airfares as I am also in Australia. I think that they are in financial difficulties myself. They are only about 5 cruises currently available and more seem to be being auctioned for millions of points.

Hi there...I would be very interested in seeing if some of our dollars can be re-couped...I am sick of the continual excuses...no company runs a business like this

Exact same thing happened to me. I was booked on NCL Epic and they claimed that there were no cabins. I have filed a complaint with IC3, a partnership of the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center. Their website is IC3.gov
I am encouraging everyone to file. Maybe we will get some action if there are enough complaints. If you check the website Pissedconsumer.com you will see dozens of others who were cheated too.

Hi, I am in the same situation. We had a cruise booked for April this year which was cancelled. Lost airfares from Hawaii to Australia, not mentioning the loss of money with CM. We also purchased a balcony on the Azamara Journey for January next year to now find balconies are deleted but everything else ok.
We also had a sailing from Auckland to Sydney in March 2014. The
updated sailings stated all ok for March except 3 NCL. I booked an airfare based on that posting from admin. The other day I checked again to find ours had been deleted and Cruise miles returned. This equates to about $12,000AUD down the drain as well as airfares etc. I am more than happy to be in on any action if it is possible from Australia.

Can anyone give correct info on where we can do a class action, 2 cruises cancelled in 2 years, promised never happen again, bought more miles to cruise on promised cruise, yes hat was also cancelled. Am tired of the energy and game this business has taken from me and my family.  So if someone can actually give some positive, real advice- I would be grateful.

Hi Sorry about Your cruises! I had one cancelled and was mad as ...! And when they initiated the membership scam, I had enough. I live in Sweden so there was no class action for me BUT since I bought credits through a Cruisemile Auctíon and payed using a creditcard the Swedish Customer Organisation advised me to contact the issuer of the card (do not remember if it was VISA or Mastercard) and file a repayment claim. I did so (simple procedure) and she explained that it is sent to the clompany and if they do not answer within 45 days, I would get my money back. And , I did get that money back. To bad, I had Cruisse credits bought from other members left in my account that I cannot reclaim! I hope this is helpful to You. Again, it is small consulation for a overdue cruisee! Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your advice. Gosh they were bought so long ago though ebay, but I think I paid pay pal-will look into it. Thanks for the direction and so glad you got some funds returned!
