after being up in the air for 20 minutes the pilot got on the phone and said "sorry for the inconvenience, but there is a malfunction on the plane and we have to turn around and go back to Charlotte and have maintenance take a look" after being on the same plane for 2 1/2 hours the pilot stated that since we are back at the gate he's gonna gas up so once he gets clearance to take off he can fly the plane extra fast to make up for some time lost. we never told what the malfunction was and took off on the same plane.I had my family waiting for me at LGR for 3 1/2 hours after the time my flight was originally supposed to arrive. At lest the flight attendants gave complimentary beverages and food the the ones flying in coach.
