I had to run away from the hotel that I booked through boooking.com in Athens and cancel the booking immediately since it was insecure and the photos and review shown in booking.com was misleading. I informed booking.com about the issue and asked for refund. Booking.com recommended to pay back only 10% of the fee (after 40 days). I also informed them that The rating of the hotel was 9.2 in early September when I made the booking and now only after 40 days it is 6.6.
It seems that getting another answer will take 40 days. I definitely would recommend considering other more reliable emerging booking sites since booking.com seems not to care about its customers (I had a similar experience with airbnb in the past where they not only returned the whole money but also gave 50EUR credit for the inconvenience they caused - what a difference).
