I would not trust them. I was charged $500 on my credit card even though I cancelled the reservation more than a month before the stay day, and only a few days after making it.

sure I would be happy to, but I am not sure what a booking number is. Also prior email to booking.com went unanswered.

Your booking number is a 9-digit number combination which you have received when you completed your booking. However, you can also send me an email to customer.web@booking.com and provide your email address you have made the booking with.
