A friend's flight was cancelled due to weather and he needed a room quickly and his cell phone battery died. I booked him a room on booking.com just as his original hotel was able to put him up for an extra night, leaving him with 2 rooms for the night. Booking.com was understanding and helpful and immediately cancelled the room I had booked with no penalty or fee.
I am grateful for their help and flexibility and will definitely use them again in the future!
