Booking.com has always been entirely reliable in that hotels have always received my booking, and the terms offered by the hotel always tally with those on the booking.com website. This is essential.

However I don't like the pop-ups saying 'only one room left' and '4 travellers are looking at this hotel right now' because they stress me out and, frankly, I don't believe them. I think their purpose is precisely to put pressure on me and force a premature decision, and I resent that.

One of the best aspects of booking.com is the 'free cancellation' option. Therefore even if there is genuinely only 'one left' of a certain type of room, it is likely to become available again especially if bookings are being made ahead of time.

Finally, booking.com always seems to offer lower rates than other sites. As a hotel user I'm not complaining but wonder how this is achieved.
