We were originally booked at a hotel in Miami at The Richmond due to the price and because it was advertised as beach front and a in good location. We booked months in advance and were only staying there for 2 nights, then moving onto Key West. We had an extremely long travel day and got to the hotel, The Richmond, in the early evening. We were told there were maintaince issues and the hotel did not have room for us. We were told there were condos on another street (not beach front) and there were no other choices on where we could stay.
Obviously we were upset, and the manager of The Richmond was rude and basically told us to "deal with it". So we lugged our bags across the busy street and through construction a couple streets over to the WORST condos I have ever seen. The bathroom was tiny and from the 1950's, it smelled, the shades were broken as well as the mirrors. The room was basically terrible.
We called Book It as we originally arranged the travel through them and they helped places us in a new, MUCH better hotel. It was not the same location however we ended up with a suite and did not have to pay a difference in price.
Thank you to Book It for turning a painful situation into a much better one!
